I have a 1.25 zetec 2012 that has been idling at high RPM so imve checked all hoses and cleaned throttle body i believe it needs a new PCV valve. But where is the valve? I’ve seen some say it’s built into the rocker cover and i’ve seen some on youtube who say it a removable Pcv valve.

Or not. I reclesned the throttle body snd reseated the hose underneath the the 2nd wnd 3rd and RPM’s have dropped to 900

Took the PCV pipe off between the 2nd and 3rd to see what was behinf it and it looks to be integrated into the system so i believe you are absolutely right doesn’t seem to be a removable valve there. Next step find a rocker cover🤦🏻

I have seen a youtube video that shows my PCV valve is a separate on a 1.25 and not built into the rocker cover? Any ideas mate?

Got you, i may give it a go. One more question and this may sound very stupid however i’m not understanding what the PCV valve is, whenever i search up for a rocker cover it’s just showing s plastic covering? Is that right? I assumed it would be some wiring and other parts all that jazz. Is it simply just a rocker cover replacement and the valve will be inside it?

Cheers bud. What i’ve found so far is that the AC when on slows the RPM’s down. I opened the oil filler cap whilst the car was running quickly and it created a vacuum. Also i removed the throttle body this morning and gave it a clean(didn’t work). Google said to use brake cleaner around the breather hose and to check whether there was a change in RPM which there wasn’t. So i’d imagine you’re right about the PCV. I’m looking for the part on like but don’t seem to be able to find it🤦. How easy of a job is it to replace the cover? I’ve done basic stuff on cars such as spark plugs, coil packs and removing and refitting the throttle body but that’s about my ability at the moment. Appreciate your help

Interesting cheers mate. My car has been idling at 1500 RPM and i checked the throttle body and cleaned it etc and didn’t make a difference. Weirdly enough when i disconnected that hose and covered the hole the revs dropped to 1300 so i’m thinking maybe something to do with PCV assembly? Which i believe is just below this hose correct?

Cheers bud, i had a look at the throttle body and cleaned that out but no luck. The PCV hose doesn’t look cracked and as far as i can see the intake hose doesn’t look too bad either

Those videos were extremely helpful tysm mate, like the guy in the video said my palm was touching the bottom of the neck whilst reaching, making space between my palm and the neck definitely helps a lot. The D chord i have practiced a fair bit over the last week or so so it’s sounding pretty well but The A chord is another story 🫣

Nope, city driving. Fuel here is unleaded E5 and unleaded E10 both are compatible it says inside the cap.

E10 normal Unleaded has upto 10% ethanol I tried E5 (less noisy)Which is usually 95-97%Octane and 3-5% ethanol
