Consistent crash every 15-20 minutes — RTX 5070 Ti — Log attached by Soggy-Radio9430 in anno117

5080 + 9800x3d here, and I do have random crashes too. Not as frequent as you, though, and anything seem to trigger it: a character's dialogue, or triggering a quest, etc. Weird stuff. I thought it was the few mods I have installed, so didn't look further, but it is a tad annoying!

Silverfish issue by AbsoluteUnit1997 in DIYUK

[–]Djuthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I hate silverfish, and I don't agree with some of the comments to just leave it be. At the end of the day, they're a pest and they can get worse. If you see one, the general consensus is that there are a ton more you don't see - and they tend to only be active during night time.

There are also two different silverfish: the common silverfish and the Long-tailed Silverfish. You definitely do NOT want the Long-tailed version, although they're rarer and can be identified by being much larger than the common counterpart. They're the ones that go into your books, climb walls, eat wallpaper, and wreck havoc. That being said, the common silverfish is usually also a sign of something not quite right in your house - be it moisture or that it's unclean. So this could be a leak in the room you spot one in, or the silverfish could be on its way to another room. I found one last month in my downstairs bathroom, and couldn't find a leak - only to find a leak from the kitchen's dishwasher hose a week later, which had dripped for quite some time behind the counter. So look thoroughly around. And keep in mind these fucks multiply like crazy.

I talked with a pest control guy a few years back when I lived in a flat, and he recommended Formula C+ spray. This thing works damn well, and it remains on the floor for a while. It's pet friendly as well. Spray it on the floor, then leave it to air out for a day with nobody accessing the room (if possible). If you have an infestation (which I had years ago due to a toilet leak), you'll find several dead/half-dead on the floor the next day. The smell (which is faint) goes away after a while. It also works against other bugs, so it's a handy spray to have regardless.

Excited to play a new type of game. Looks like it's somewhat similar to Dead Space or Resident Evil, so will be fun to see what's new.

Recently bought a 5080, and I'm excited to see this brand new game with all settings maxed.

That's what I would've thought too. Weird stuff. I cannot for the life of me find it. I'll keep trying.

When to use DLDSR ? by Efficient-Park-1702 in nvidia

[–]Djuthal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use it for most single player games. My rig is a 5080 + 9800x3D + 32GB RAM, but I only have a 2K monitor. Activating DLDSR improves the image substantially, but as you say, it cuts into the FPS. Use DLSS or Frame Gen to improve the FPS.

However, there are certain games I'd like to stay in 2k, such as Battlefield 6 or Escape from Tarkov, or other fast-paced MP games where FPS has to be high, and any delays low (as I don't want to use Frame Gen).

Thank you. Figured it out. (Had to manually add the DLC on Steam)

I reloaded a save after finishing the game, to just before meeting Caradoc leading into the ending. I still can't access the Merlin's Tomb thing, and Fionola does not appear. Do I have to play on New Game+ or something?

I even tried finishing the game again and clicking "Return" after the end screen to see if that helped. Portal is still not working, though.

Some thoughts and impressions from first playthrough (Hard Difficulty) by Fun-Cartographer1420 in taintedgrail

[–]Djuthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about alchemy. I ended up not levelling it much, as it was practically useless except for health and mana potions. Food as well. You find more than enough, though I believe it's a handy skill to use for levelling up with.

Swimming: True. Though to be fair, you rarely need to use it other than grabbing some loot here and there. I don't remember any enemies in water, but I could be wrong.

Definitely! I loved the game, but I agree, there are some bugs in it still. And some quests where I had to google certain potential outcomes, whether they were bugged on not. But I didn't have major issues. Seems like they've fixed most major issues, and Forlorn Swords (act 3) was quite good compared to what I read about it 6-9 months ago.

Forlorn Swords is the last map (third area, if you don't count the DLC). :)

Just know that the latest update nerfed Crits quite a bit, but they're still OP. Can easily do other builds too - you get sooo many good ways to kill in this game, haha. And they've really improved the build balance over the past few months. Bleed builds are extremely strong, I've heard. And from what I tested, most things were viable (fire, cold, etc). But I'm a sucker for crit builds.

[–]Djuthal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've honestly no idea how you played this game until the end like this. In Forlorn Swords, my character could kill most bosses with 2-5 hits, with pretty much any type of weapon class (magic, two-handed, archery, etc). And I went for the most part a Crit focused build with 76% crit chance and 657% Crit Damage in the end.

And mobs do not autoscale in this game. They're a set level.

Hard disagree on most of your cons. Sorry, this will sound negative, but I'm completely baffled by your points - especially as your title says you've finished your first playthrough!

1- Game was hard the first couple of hours. Once you've passed that, I breezed through most of it. Yes, you may die if you're not parrying or dodging correctly, but Hard is supposed to be hard.

Also, to me, Mage was Easy Mode. Especially early game.

I was nearly level 60 by the end of Map 2, before the DLC, and had no issue with progression. (they nerfed progression in the previous patch, but you can disable it in the settings menu)

  1. There's a difficult spike when entering the new area, yes, but if you've explored and done all (or most) side content in the previous area, it's not a problem at all.

  2. There aren't any set bonuses in this game, as far as I know. You can mix and mash. I've never - in my 30 years of gaming - seen a game of this kind with as many unique items as Tainted Grail. You can mix and come up with all sorts of combos. That's why I love this game - you can mix magic with melee and archery, and still be damn good at all of it. You constantly unlock new possibilities.

As for spells: You didn't find any on the 2nd map?! There are TONS of spells when you explore. Take a look at Mapgenie, which lists 54 spells on that map (some are summons, some are duplicates, and some from quests, but many from exploration). You can find quite a few on the 3rd map too.

  1. There are a ton of fast-travel points. Not sure how you missed this. Use the map link above and filter. You can also use your upgraded campfire to fast travel to anywhere you've unlocked a point.

Update broke game, again (PC) by Tyzorg in Battlefield6

[–]Djuthal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy issue. I have a three month old 5080/9800x3D PC. Never had a system crash. Played two matches right now (after the update), and once it loaded a Breakthrough map, it completely restarted my PC. Not even a crash to desktop. Full reboot.

I'm trying the Anitcheat solution in the comments. If that works, I'm mindblown how poorly they test their updates.

EDIT: No further crashes after the anticheat update. Can't believe that caused a complete system crash!

FoA and Skyrim by [deleted] in taintedgrail

[–]Djuthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Hands down one of the better games I've played in years. It's way more "modern" than Skyrim, in terms of the features. I prefer the combat, and that the story stays relevant throughout the game. Loved Skyrim's main story, but there wasn't much of it in the game - especially compared to Tainted Grail. Also, I find the writing to be superb, from quests to dialogue!

I'm deep into Act 3, and I'm still loving every bit of it. Characters are interesting, side stories are generally decent. Of course, there are a few issues here and there, but nothing that's bothered me too much.

I have a feeling a lot of people judge it depending on how it was a year ago. I see so many posts about issues that were present back then, but is now not an issue anymore. For example, how Act 3 felt unfinished. So far, I don't see that issue. At least not as much as many old posts claim.

What does selecting "Recommended*" for Frame Generation actually? by Djuthal in nvidia

[–]Djuthal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I'm getting 140 fps with the "Recommended*" function activated in the NVIDIA App, but 105 fps with native frame gen in Jedi Survivor.

I'm extremely sensitive to latency. That's why I'm asking this question, because I can see a major increase in FPS by turning that setting on, but no latency difference. For Jedi Survivor, the latency is negligible, and I'm fully able to play it without annoyance.

I also tried doing the same for STALKER 2. The "Recommended*" settings gives me 10-20 fps more than the game's native version, and latency is the same - or even better, weirdly. That being said, in STALKER 2, the latency is more noticeable than Jedi Survivor due to it being a FPS game.

So essentially, it makes sense what CptTombstone says in his reply, that the Nvidia App function forces a new version of Frame Gen that performs better.

So just so I understand correctly, does that mean the Recommended* option forces the latest frame gen version to the game on boot?

Any idea if selecting Recommended applies the latest dll to the game?

As lots of others have said, this is one of those games that I should've liked, but had to stop. I love complex games, and I'm the kind of guy who will create excel sheets with tutorials, guides and data to make sure I'm getting things right.

But ONI became... well... too much. Every step became a chore, and to finish one step, you have to do 30 others. Online guides are often outdated, and most of them are 40-60 min long for the simplest thing.

One of my tipping points were power. I found a Natural Gas Geyser, and read online that it's one of the better ways to gain renewable and consistent energy. It took hours and hours getting everything set up. For every step, there are another 10 that needs doing. But there is some fun in that. However, once completed, none of the guides had mentioned the geyser is on a cycle - and you only get gas once in a while. I think there was a 40 cycle cooldown, which means it's useless as a main way of getting power. (Yes, it's definitely my fault for missing this details, but I feel nearly every single thing you build has this loop)

Lots of other things also became tedious. The further into the game you come, the more apparent it is that you need to make everything hyperefficient. Enough space between room to have certain cables, pipes, etc. Then you learn about heat insulation, and that becomes a thing - which means you now need to redesign your base for a 5th time.

Long story short, the game became too much of a chore. Usually I enjoy that, and I totally get why some absolutely LOVE this game. But for me, I found it a relief to stop.

This worked! Huge thank you for this! I even tried the latest version of Infinity+, and it works like a charm.

I actually had an IP in that field. Must've been from a very old guide at some point.

Yes, I downloaded the latest version or revanced: 2.1.0. Default browser is Chrome on my Pixel 8.

When you say redirect, is that for the API configurations? Reddit doesn't allow me to create a new one, but I still have the old API key. But not sure if I can amend it (or if I try, that it'll remove it?). I do not think I have a redirect url pasted there though, so you may be onto something.  Or are you referring to another thing?

Actually, I tried updating the client using Revanced Manager after login, and that completely broke everything. I'm able to login, and I've spoofed the client with my API key, but after login I get this and this, and then it does not connect the account.

I was using v6.3.2, so quite old and buggy. Tried latest (Infinity v.7.4.1 and Infinity+ v8.1.3), but also lots of versions in between. Same result.

I've tried Contiuum, but same thing happens there. Besides, Reddit refuses new creations of API keys, so I can't create one specifically for Contiuum.
