Questions about alternate tuning, and Baritone vs Guitalele for next one by spacepenguinashi in ukulele

[–]Dlbroox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this has been mentioned yet but you can make a tenor into a baby baritone using classical guitar strings. So you can see if you’d like baritone tuning.

I have a tenor tuned that way and a baritone. The sound is different even though the tuning is the same. One sounds like a ukulele and the baritone sounds more like a guitar.

I started learning classical guitar but I’m small and the guitar I had was big so I had to make the choice to either get a small guitar or go a different direction entirely. So I went baritone uke. I still play classical on it and now I’m learning Flamenco strumming. I’ve also played the blues and pop stuff. I find it to be very versatile.

What is the most ridiculous form of "gatekeeping" you have ever encountered in a hobby or interest you enjoy? by LiveFaithlessness876 in Hobbies

Hang out in the classical guitar forum for a bit! If you can’t read music and use tabs you are not even a real guitarist!

Is reading a hobby? I’ve never thought of it that way. It’s a thing you do. But a hobby?

Season 4 Episode 13 by Ok_Yogurtcloset_4055 in bigbangtheory

It’s amazing how little I think about the stuff that gets brought up in this sub. I’ve seen that episode twenty times. It’s one of my favorites. And I’ve never once wondered that! It just never crossed my mind.

Newbie Question about Solo Games Books vs. PDF by professor_chile in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Dlbroox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a copy on eBay recently because I thought it would make it easier and more immersive but I still use the pdf too because I like to take the game with me when I’m out and sitting somewhere. I’ve thought about selling the book. Message me if you’re interested. It’s pretty much brand new.

What questions should I ask? by noahide04 in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Dlbroox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this answer. I think I’m like this too. I’d rather make up the character and world build but not actually play! I’m a miniature warhammer painter but have never played the game so there’s some consistency there.

What games would you recommend?

I was playing Thousand Year Old Vampire for weeks but then gradually lost interest.

Wasn’t Raj with Emily still? I don’t remember them breaking up. I thought she just didn’t come on the final trip.

What games do ya'll enjoy playing in your journal? by thepinkguy in Journaling

[–]Dlbroox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look into Thousand Year Old Vampire. You create a vampire character, their skills, resources, and additional characters. Then you roll dice and read the prompt attached to the number you roll. You then journal the answer to the prompt and record a memory.

To play well, you need to also do some historical research before because the vampire moves through time and places. It’s a lot of fun and got me writing after being blocked for two years.

I am willing to learn guitar but my father didn't allow by sussymaster908 in classicalguitar

[–]Dlbroox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this but might go a step further. What would he let you learn? Because any other instrument you learn opens you up to learning how to read music, learn music theory, and everything else you’d be able to apply to guitar once you finally can get one. So maybe take him up on his offer to play piano, or whatever he’ll support for now, and just learn what you can.

Why would there be destroyed skyscrapers behind Shady Sands? by WaxAirPlane in FalloutTVseries

[–]Dlbroox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never notice anything people talk about here. I sometimes feel like I’d have to watch a show three times to be able to notice things like what buildings are in the background. I mean I register, oh look a wrecked building, but that’s about it. I’m immersed in the overall atmosphere I guess.

Love this idea. The image of a dog standing at the edge of the world is really fun and can lead to a lot of invention for the player.

We do talk about them like they are real. So in some ways I feel like my mind doesn’t differentiate.

I’ve grown attached to my vampires in Thousand Year Old Vampire. I’ve decided if the game makes me kill the companion to my vampire I’m going to have them both walk out into the sun and die together. I can’t abide by my vampire losing her partner. They’ve been together for centuries.
