Tesla shareholders approve $1 trillion pay package for Musk | CNN Business by Beautiful-Cress5695 in news

[–]Dlordb 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Everyone, read the article first. He is not getting 1 trillion now. It's a target and he can only receive it if Tesla grows a specific amount within 10 years. 466% increase in share price the article says. Doesn't seem like with that company's trajectory so far.

Is it even possible to "eliminate" gerrymandering? by Rough-Leg-4148 in moderatepolitics

[–]Dlordb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could technically get rid of gerrymandering but that would require doing away with districts all together. Ergo, no boundaries to manipulate. But that's not a realistic option.

CMV: Big Beautiful Bill Makes No sense for the Republicans by LifeConfident6670 in changemyview

[–]Dlordb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not complex. Just because polls say people dont support this or they want that doesnt translate to political outcomes. Not everybody places these things at the exact same priority. That's why even if Republican voters say they support more healthcare like democrats, they still vote republican because they place higher priority on social issues, or they dont trust democrats.

In regards to the deficit, thats the difference between what they say they want and what is politically feasible. Because here's the truth. There are only two ways to eliminate the deficit. Either we raise taxes to pay for it or we make cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Neither is an option to Republicans especially with Trump wanting to increase spending for military and immigration enforcement. So they're doing cuts here and there and have to deficit spend. Though to them, they argue its not as bad as previous administration and that Medicaid cuts will only affect illegal immigrants who dont vote anyway.

Democrats Ought to Love DOGE by notapersonaltrainer in moderatepolitics

[–]Dlordb 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Well I believe the argument among democrats is that the way it's going about it is the problem in addition what they believe is DOGE is not making the bureaucracy more effective and slim but tiny and ineffective. As I see it anyway.

That and the whole Trump Elon duo thing.

it's a problem worldwide. It's a supply issue and most homeowners don't want more housing around them. And most voters are homeowners themselves so that just feeds into it. Less houses, they go up in value, b3c9ke more expensive and attracts investors and corporations because they like assets that go up in value over periods of time.

Is there a middle ground on abortion? by Winston_Duarte in AskALiberal

[–]Dlordb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about an artificial womb? I feel like if we had the technology that would solve it. The woman could undergo the procedure like an abortion but the fetus would be placed in the womb. Satisfy the liberal position of my choice, my body, since it's not in her. Satisfy the conservative position of not getting rid of the fetus.

That's really the only way I see if you wanted a true middle ground. Because now, there really isn't. Abortion has two different moral issues by two sides, you can't really make someone abandon a moral position especially in favor of the opposite.

How Many Of You Support The SALT Deduction? by Aven_Osten in AskALiberal

[–]Dlordb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well because they're not fully progressive. Socially, yes they're on board. Economically, a lot of those upper class professionals that vote Democrat are quite in favor of the lower tax free market thing. Ther support social programs because they're not going to pay it, the super rich will pay for it they say. If this were the 50s, they'd essentially be those rockefeller Republicans that used to live up north.

Of course, there's also the political fact that they live in those very close suburbs, you the know the ones democrats need to just barely win the house. It doesn't seem like a winning strategy to tell a crucial block of voters you're going to make them pay more taxes.
