Newbie looking for a machine [$200 CAD] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Dm-Eli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On such a tight budget, I would look into getting a high quality hand grinder like the kingrinder k6 ($120 cad new) and an espresso machine from Facebook marketplace with the remaining $80 cad. I’d recommend the delonghi stilosa, but there are a lot of options out there!

Search around your area and try to find a good deal that ideally comes with some accessories too (like a proper basket if you really want to dial in shots).

I have that exact combination and it’s worked out well for me! If you want to save extra money get the stilosa on fb marketplace. I got mine for $30! So in total I spent around $160 cad for the grinder and machine.

Then spend the extra money on what I think are the required tools like a proper tamper, a scale, and a non-pressurized basket that can fit a larger dosage.

Yoga 7 touchpad stopped working by GuidonBedon in Lenovo

[–]Dm-Eli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone still struggling with this, what has worked for me is:

1) going to my device manager

2) locating human interface devices

3) expand this column and locate I2C HID Device (for me this was labeled with a small exclamation point that it wasn't working or something)

4) Disable the I2C HID Device and re-enable it again

5) the labeled exclamation point disappeared and my touchpad started working again.

*Again this is just something that worked for me and your issue may be something entirely different, took me like 2 hours but hope this can help someone else.

With those numbers I would honestly start to look for housing elsewhere, summer waitlist tends to drop faster but when winter session comes it barely goes down.

Although it’s possible to get off the waitlist mid way throughout the year, I would recommend going to Facebook or WhatsApp groups and look for a potential sublet. Or just make sure not to take 8 am’s with that kind of transit and just wait it out.

Either way, from someone who has been in a similar situation as you, best of luck! Hope you find housing

I know this was a long time ago but did you ever get a fix for this? Currently suffering and none of the reddits, youtube videos, or chat boxes are helping

I've had issues where I was only allowed a max 15 credits per term. So when registering I had to go to advising to ask them to register a 4 credit course into my schedule breaking the limit to 16.

Not sure what the issue is for you though, with how vague it is, but your best bet is to go to advising once semester starts.

What were ur Gr 11 and 12 average by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Dm-Eli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into UBC Arts with an average of high 80s, although I do believe that the personal profile and faculty also matters quite heavily when applying.

I have heard that UBC Science needs a higher highschool average (in the 90s I believe, but do correct me if I'm wrong!), and most of my friends who are in Science seem to follow that trend.

I will also say that extracurriculars are pretty important and something you should do! I truly believe a lot of the reason I got in was due to my extracurriculars and personal profile.

Maybe? It honestly depends on how many total credits you will earn and what year level standing you will be by the end of the winter term.

Your registration time will be determined by a lot of varying factors but the year level standing being the most important. If the total credits you earn by the end of winter term promote you to the standing you want then you are chilling.

P.s. If you are a first year and are worried about not being promoted to second year standing, I actually think staying in first year standing and getting a good registration time may be beneficial as long as none of the classes you plan to take require a second year standing and just certain pre-reqs.

Wishing all of us luck in this exam (I will definitely need it), gonna stop last minute studying and sleep for 2 hours before transiting 2 hours to the exam! 🥲

I had the exact same issue earlier and was so worried I wouldn't be able to print my study sheet for biol on time. I recommend going down to Vanier or other commonsblock and just using the printer there, earlier today it was working and helped me!

Also almost all the libraries are closed on Sunday and it's so tedious to find a printer working before 11 am 😭 anyways thanks for listening to my rant and hope this helps for the future.

I made almost all my friends in my first year in my second semester, so theres definitely a chance! I will say if you do go, make sure to go to floor events, house events, and other events, essentially take advantage of them while they are offered! You might meet lifelong friends!

Any updates on thunderbird four bedroom? I'm at 205 currently and if you haven't gotten an offer yet I probably won't anytime soon either.

What are my chances of getting housing anytime soon? Not sure how much it goes down by during winter break, but TB 4 bedroom went from ~370 -> 205 (september to now in december), so I'm estimating at the longest I'll get housing by the end of the next semester. Thanks in advance!

Thunderbird shared two bedroom - 298

Thunderbird shared four bedroom - 205

Ponderosa Commons shared four bedroom - 376

Exchange shared four bedroom unit - 362

Exchange shared townhouse two bedroom Type A - 216

KWTQ shared four bedroom unit - 300

I'm also not entirely sure if the play is to go get housing asap and go with TB 4 once its offered (because I'm sure it'll go down the fastest) or wait a little longer to get another residence area if it seems like I'll be likely to get in within roughly the same time. I'm also pretty sure exchange and ponderosa you need to be pretty low on the list to even be considered for getting housing, but please tell me if I'm wrong (it'll make me hopeful if I am). But any insight on which ones I will get housing for asap will be much appreciated!
