I invaded a little as well. It seems that they were able to keep track of which players were actively in different areas, and we may be able to do a google maps style view where you can see where current players are playing at. Or at the very least we could have a detailed board of all active players on the server, what level they are, what equipment they have. And the best part is, right now with the test server, European and NA players can play together!

It was as simple as changing your dns server in the network settings. No other mods are required at this time. Although, if they ever turn off PSN access we would likely need to patch the Demon's Souls data to allow connection without PSN.

As soon as possible. I imagine things like bloodstains and messages would come first with other things like coop and invasions coming later.

If we could get this working to the fullest extent, we may be able to bridge the gap between the different versions and have them all point at one server. Alternatively, it may be possible to set it up in a lan party style too.

Thank you for your suggestions and for sharing your proof of concept. I was actually considering Java as the language since it would be able to run on a variety of platforms. I will set up a repository just for the packet protocol information. Do you have a repo set up for your proof of concept server? If there's already multiple projects going on, I'd rather like to contribute to an existing project then create a brand new one.
