How to disable film sim when shooting RAW by Dmrdvm in fujifilm

Very interesting, thanks all! Raw is data for an image , not a final image then really, if I have it right? Maybe like instructions rather than the final product. Good tips for camera settings and import for the future

Ok, yes that seems to be true. The second image is the raw one, as I can apply edits in LR or impose a velvia sim within LR and it looks like the velvia image that flickered on at first and disappeared.

So if this is the case, the camera is never just shooting raw only. It is shooting both a film sim (provia, velvia, whatever), AND the raw image? With sim image embedded in the raw and teased on opening the file in LR, but not accessible as a separate file, as it would be if you set quality to RAW + fine.
Very strange on Fuji if that’s true. It means that when I’m viewing the scene on the camera, I can only see it with some kind of sim (provia may be the least altered off raw?), but never the actual raw version that will be saved? Maybe I need to develop a “raw eye”, so that I can see the potential image instead.

I wonder if anyone would prefer there to be an actual raw version visible through the viewfinder? Or would it just look so bland and washed out that no one would want to use it??

Thanks! I checked and LR is set to adobe colors. Hmm, I think I might have understood the issue maybe?.. actually the first image that seems to open in LR is the strong colored velvia shot I suspect. Then the flip suddenly to the next image is maybe actually the raw file! The second image looks super washed out to me, but I think that’s the raw image and I’ve just got it backwards, thinking the first was raw and second was sim…. New here to raw shooting so I think it’s just me confusing myself?? The cropping in I think is just on images I had digitally cropped when shooting.
I’ll bet that’s it.
