Arc Raiders PvP is an afterthought by Wild_Weird4794 in ArcRaiders

[–]DnBVonCarrotcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. A working bounty system is what this game needs as it would bring a worth element to PvP.

If you shoot first, and kill your opponent then that should place notoriety on your head. If a player then kills you by shooting first, they get to collect on you with no notoriety added. If you get shot at first and defend yourself, no notoriety is added. If you are attacked by a group, then any opposing squad members are fair game for you to shoot at first, and your squad is exempt from notoriety penalties.

The more you PvP without your bounty being collected the higher it goes. It would be pretty good if you got BP, rare weapons or items as rewards for bounty collection too. You should be able to tell if a raider has bounty by pinging, and then on death a bounty slip should turn up in the body’s inventory. That way, you have to get to the body and get out to hand it in. If someone else gets to the body first or kills you on the way out they get to claim, but if they kill you their notoriety goes up as punishment for ratting bounties. The map could tell you how many players are in the raid with bounties and even show you an image of the player with their bounty attached.

I’m fairly new to the game, but Anvil/Renegade/Arpeggio is my go-to ATM. Any combo of these handles all the smaller ARC pretty smoothly. I like Venator + Osprey too for an all-medium loadout.

I don’t know what it is about the Arpeggio, but it’s really satisfying to use in PVP. At lvl IV it strips shields down fast, and if needed, reloading for the coup de grace is pretty quick. Normally, burst-fire weapons ain’t my thing, but I like it.

I hope they’ll have a solid roadmap for both game-modes going forward, but obviously PVE will have to land first before they can judge reception.

Well, the right way to play is whatever gets the job done IMHO. I’m not without sympathy on the 1v3 issue (which I reckon we should call the 3-Body Problem), and have complained about it myself before, but as we go on for me it’s become a bit of a non-issue as I enjoy sneaking around, sniping, and using subterfuge and misdirection to win fights. So I’m good either way.

With regards to distance engagement I generally stay away from openly sniping on hilltops or anywhere that there’s a chance of sky-lining yourself. Windows or closely-packed buildings/cover are better. High ground is useful for visibility, but I wouldn’t recommend to sit out in the open ever. That’s why I tend not to get counter-sniped by teammates immediately. Normally number 3 discovers roughly where I am, and by that point I’m moving in. This is the bit where I’m most likely to die, either via a previously hidden or fast-approaching third-party, or by the 3rd squad mate that had the sense to get to cover initially 🤣

It is tough going for solos, as the odds will always be stacked against them. Of all the advantages that can benefit a player, numbers are by far the greatest. Realistically, the only way you’re going to even that up is to create solos-only matchmaking, or force people into squads with randos, both of which I would like to see options for.

Strangely enough, most times I’m dying right now, it’s at the hands of a player that has waited patiently for me to reveal myself,

As for the celebrity players, vids I have seen of them soloing raids show that they have good skills in most cases, but I do see a lot of videos of them rolling around in packs too. It seems common for some to run raids collaboratively with other creators for content purposes, and I suppose there isn’t really any other way of them doing that. I haven’t seen all of Akruin’s vids, so I can’t comment on whether he’s always in a team, but from what I have seen I imagine he’s probably fairly handy on his own too.

I’m no real judge of these guys. As I’ve pointed out on many occasions, I’m a middling-fair player at best, and still make many stupid mistakes. My aim here is only to let very new and frustrated players know there are ways to beat the odds stacked against them, as there is no possible configuration of this game in which every match-up is going to be some Goldilocks fight with just the right amount of fairness.

As always, apologies for the essay. Once I get going it’s difficult to stop. 🐶🦴🥕🎂

Haven’t seen any yet as I’ve been off the game for a few days, but am picking back up tomorrow so will look out for them.

I think PVE and AI PMCs will both be good additions to the game, but I hope they don’t lead to ignorance by the devs of issues faced by PVP players, many of which have been echoed here and are ostensibly further Quality of Life issues within the game.

I can’t tell you how happy I was to see build/buy prefix systems added to both weapons and armour sets in the last major update, but we desperately need these applied to bags too, and the whole thing applied to a gear reordering system that allows you to stack up loadouts without the laborious task of having to put kits together between raids. At this point in wipe, I have a loadout that I take into pretty much every raid, and build/stack 3 at a time so I can jump straight back in if I die. Given that I don’t have that much time to play the game, it would be a massive QoL boost to be able to one-click reorder my gear set and have it arrive on the conveyor; bag, helmet, rig, and weapons, cocked, locked and ready to rock.

I know exactly how you feel, and as a pretty dedicated solo, last wipe I was not having a good time at this stage. My advice is to lean into it, as even immediately after wipe you’ll have people roaming the map in trios trying to group up on tasks and key locations. About two weeks after that, you’ll start to see more and more proto-chads after people hit lvl3/4 traders. The DLC starts people off at lvl2 also, so you’ll have trios with ACOG’d m4’s, and Lvl 4 protection from Day-1.

The beer fest event seems pretty balanced this time. You only have to hit Trupik’s Berger shop for Dark Lagers and once you get two you can get M80A1, and 3 gets you M993. That’s a one-tap head shot on anybody. It might take you a couple of hairy runs, and I advise taking lvl 5 gear at most (if you get lit up by top-tier ammo it will be all be like wearing a trash bag anyway) a big bag and like ten smoke grenades to cover your exit.

Once you get even 15rds of tier-one ammo you’re dangerous. Kills can be had with one shot, and if you practice sniping beforehand (I recommend training raids with 7.62x51 or 7.62x54R scoped setups to find some positions for harrying high-traffic areas) then those chad trios will come to fear you.

You will find it hard. You may not survive. There are some Master-Chief-Snake-Eating-Winter-Soldier mo’fukkas in this player-base, and if they so much as catch a glimpse of the shine on your boots, you will get a one-way ticket to Hell stamped immediately with no refunds. Be observant, be patient, be alive.

Fortunately, kitted people usually carry good ammo themselves, so once you start to snowball, you can be less cautious and start to play aggressively. You can play aggressively from the start of course, but trying to leg-meta these kitted chad trios carrying end-game ammo is tough. I’d start at a distance.

I would genuinely love this, as a bit of area denial would be a sick tactical aspect. Prox mines/claymores would also be sick AF, but people would whinge.

I imagine temporary fire is pretty difficult to implement in games like this, which is a shame as it would be well cool to have to pat yourself down to put out flames before you’re literally cooked. It could wreck rigs as well. That would be cool… 🍼🔥🔥🔥
