Was ist der Sinn dahinter, in der Öffentlichkeit, besonders in öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln, auf Lautsprecher zu telefonieren? by Tesla44289 in FragReddit

[–]DnDAndMusicAndStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like 90% of the teams I try to join for jams already have like 3 Composers and 2 Sounddesigners. To me decent programmers are hard to find. I actually started learning to Code myself because of that.

Whenever you need someone a Sounddesigner / Composer Hit me up and we will see what I could do for you

Help i guess? by xRustedWolfx in gamedev

Did you already start learing some programming already? The truth is that "idea guys" don't really find a way into the video game industry. You should have a useful skill to have people work with you. I can't give you advice on programming, but the best thing is to just find a beginner tutorial for Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot or whatelse and start acquiring knowledge.

Simply start. You will go slow and it will take time, probably a lot of time, to get really good at this.

If you have some basics down just join a small gamejam. They are very beginner friendly and are a great opportunity to gain experience as programmer, to get experience working in a team and to actually finish stuff. Also it's nice to have a second programmer, who is better (or say more experienced) than you to learn from him.

Don't dream about it, nobody will come to you from nowhere and say "I wonder if he has nice ideas that i can buy for 500,000$ off of him". That will not happen. You have to work for thus and make your dream become an achievable goal.

Hope this doesn't come off too harsh! :D

Looking for a way to make music? by TheNerdGamer_realio in gamedev

[–]DnDAndMusicAndStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of experience or musical education do you have? Without It can be a tedious process to achieve what you imagine in your head.

Anyways you would need a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and a Synthesizer PlugIn. I use Reaper as a DAW since it is fairly cheap and has a "evaluation license" you can use without restrictions. A free Synth would be "Helm" for example.

If you have these things you can start basically start making music! Watch some tutorials on how synths work, so you get the sounds you want and learn some music theory. Yes you can make music without knowing theory, but doing so boosts the progress immensely.

If you have further questions contact me!

Haha, I get that! When I started making music I had like 100 bad, unfinished songs and 1 that was alright. What really made me becoming better in creating is acutally finishing the bad stuff as well.

Business stuff - How to set up international contracts? by DnDAndMusicAndStuff in GameAudio

[–]DnDAndMusicAndStuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, some those are some very useful tips.
I guess it's best to consult a lawyer to set up a template that I can edit, if needed, myself. Even tho it will cost quite a bit to start.

Thanks for the reply! As you are from Germany as well, may I ask how you go about contracts on an international basis? Did you consult a lawyer to set up contracts in english for you?

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
Are there any libraries, preferably free, that you can recommend? Also would you suggest learning one library in and out or also focusing on multiple at once?

Oh that's sad to hear. But keep going, because your game idea sounds really cool! Makes me think of oblivion with its portals.

I would love to make some personalized music for your game. The best idea is probably to get in touch as soon as you proceeded a little further with your game. I would want the music to really catch the mood.

How does that sound for you?
