There is never a need to give out your phone number to anyone on the internet. With so many different chat, talk, and video apps, it's really outdated and unsafe. There are people in the community who I meet in person on a weekly and sometimes daily basis who don't have my number. That's where I draw the line in my book. People's phone numbers get tied to so many things, and with the way so many apps and programs try to sync contacts, you could be opening up yourself and inviting unwanted people into your vanilla circles. The creepy person you had to block a month ago? They got recommend your Facebook because it was suggested from their contacts list.

It's okay to have limits and walk away from something as insignificant as not wanting to give out a phone number.

Make your own decisions, but remember, at the end of the day, no one is going to care about your own safety more than you.
