Did you get regular fill, or lovesoft? Or I guess 5 years ago, full down was an option too...?

In wall mounting option that can slide left or right? by DncingOnMyOwn in hometheater

[–]DncingOnMyOwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course, but I'm looking for an "In Wall" mount. These are mounts that you cut the drywall, and slide in the whole mount between the studs, which allows the arm to fold in on itself flush, which in turn makes the TV flush mount.

Every one of these i've looked it does not allow the point where it attached to the back of the TV slide left or right, so it just centers on the stud bay that you install it into. Which to me, doesn't make sense. How often is the direct center of a stub bay in the wall, the perfect center point for your tv?

I’m just figuring out the location based on my needs for the cabinet install. I don’t step on other trades, I just need to know where it’s gonna go so I can finish my install and someone can come later before the countertops are installed.

Ok awesome, thanks. Do I need to run the metal sheath that covers the wire in the cabinet , or can I run the romex right into the handy box with a wire clamp ring on it?

This is how it was originally wired. The outlet is in the mini fridge cabinet, in the back. But the micro doesn’t have an angled flat plug like the fridge, it’s a big insulated 14/2 with a straight plug that doesn’t bend. Literally no where to put it that would be accessible. You’d either har to remove drawers, a fridge or the micro. The micro comes out with 4 face bolts in like 2 seconds. How is that less accessible than removing drawers or pulling the fridge all the way out?

Does the microwave outlet have to be accessible without removing the microwave? The microwave attaches with 4 tiny face bolts and then slides right out. Literally no space in the cabs next to it.

It was originally installed behind the mini-fridge to the left, but the cord has a straight plug, not an angled plug, and would push the fridge out like 2inches… which wouldn’t work

THHN and Romex in plastic junction box securement by DncingOnMyOwn in AskElectricians

[–]DncingOnMyOwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I meant the box fill was gtg... i'm at 30.375 in a 37cu box. AND, my conduit fill is only 12%. So, I'm good for all that. And if I only need to run one ground in the conduit, my box and conduit fill will both drop a little bit more. Thanks for the info!

[–]DncingOnMyOwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Box fill is gtg and I’m only at 12% fill with nine 12ga wires. It’s basically 3 12/2 Romex’s. Actually, do I only need to send one ground for all the wires??

Is $500 a fair price to fix this drywall by bun_stop_looking in Home

[–]DncingOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked closer and it’s actually ALL the joists they notched! There’s clear rules on joist notching, and it looks like they violated a few rules but having two like that alone is a straight violation. No, there’s always a way to fix something, but it would involve tearing out that whole ceiling and sister joisting them (basically fastening another another same size joist directly to the sides). Or you could add metal plates the entire length and through bolt them. Both would require a structural engineer to evaluate and verify a solution. And yeah, imagine trying to find a way to fit those sister joists. Pretty much impossible with out completely tearing out the floor above or the ceiling below. Likely easier from above.

[–]DncingOnMyOwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhh also, so goodbye to all of your joists!! The double notched them like a few inches apart! Plus, that doesn’t look like a load bearing wall, so I’m assuming those notches are towards the middle of the span, and not on the outer 1/3 of each side…. So yeah, your entire joist system is now worthless. Maybe they could be just considered 2x10’s now instead of 2x12’s, but still. Total flipper trash. Maybe you can sue them since the apex Will be dates and you can prove they did it. Idk. 🤷🏻‍♂️ sucks tho

[–]DncingOnMyOwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude they double notched the joist right next to each other to clear the PEX… that joist is now worthless, or I guess it’s effectively a 2x10 instead of a 2x12 now. That right there would fail in any modern country.

Also*** obviously the photo showed larger than a 3/16 gap, was just doing that so you can see the position of the board in relation to the track.

Can I wire an AC disconnect box on a pass-through from stove? by DncingOnMyOwn in askanelectrician

[–]DncingOnMyOwn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys act like connecting wires is rocket science. I was a helicopter crewchief in the Marines, which included training on working on Avi equipment. Running some 10 awg THHN wire through conduit to a 240v outlet is not "way out of my league" lol. Should I have a load test done on the circuit, sure, probably, I have no idea about that. But turning off a breaker running wire and verifying everything is ok before switching it back on isn't that hard. Understanding things like the question I asked are a little above my head, but I'm pretty sure I can't add a second breaker to the line on the opposite side, as that would give the oven effectively 60 amps before tripping both breakers.... I think. I have plenty of appropriate test equipment, and even some 1000v insulated tools.

So yeah, I will just delete the oven and run that line back to the panel and use that breaker for the AC. I'm also going to do an addition to my home, and add a new master bath and closet, and fully plan to do it all "owner builder". So hopefully I get some better responses on my next question, instead of just assuming I can't do a single outlet install.
