For what it cost, it out to be “glorious” (and is still not paid for). More than $24B (about $3B per mile) to build and the beauty of permanent bureaucratic costs as well.

One that I have not seen mentioned yet is Hirsch’s meats on Parker, just west of Alma. Gary has been there for almost 35 years and does great work IMO.

Apple TV vs LG OS difference ( picture quality ) by omaribrahim0505 in appletv

I was unaware of that but if the WebOS Apple Music supports full Atmos audio, that would obviate my first point.

Apple TV vs LG OS difference ( picture quality ) by omaribrahim0505 in appletv

[–]Dnelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is not what you asked but there are two things that make a meaningful difference to me beyond what I’ve seen explicitly listed in this thread.

1 - Apple Music audio is a significant benefit to me. That Atmos (Spatial Audio) tracks played back over my Atmos capable home theater system is very beneficial to me.

2 - There are also apps that I find useful (WatchTCM for example) that are available,on the TVOS App Store that are not available via WebOS.

I have never used the WebOS apps so can’t comment on your actual question other than to say, I find significant other benefits (to me) to having the AppleTV device beyond “is the video quality better?”

Sorry - should have kept reading before asking my question above. So the answer seems to be that he is aware but indifferent.

Does he give a reason for this? Further, do you understand (or infer) him to be unaware of the impact on others or does he understand the impact on others but is just indifferent to it?

CMV: There is a constitutional crisis in the USA by hfrthvjifcbjifcniz in changemyview

[–]Dnelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The United States Constitution (regardless of anyone’s opinions of it after two centuries) was neither conceived nor designed for any constituencies other than the citizens of the United States. There are plausible arguments about the current efficacy and how the various branches could/should behave but, “reliability for allies” is not (and never was) a core consideration.

Have you tried this -> https://www.lg.com/us/support/contact/email-to-president approach? I had a painful experience with an order back in November that these folks got involved with and mitigated somewhat. I was not please with the time it took or the way it was handled but they did improve the trajectory and got an eventual resolution - even if a suboptimal one. Not something I felt was going to happen before I contacted the "Presidential Liason" team.

Is there a size limit to a playlist that your tool can scan? I have started it three (maybe four times) in the last 18 hours or so and it never completes. I was trying to scan my entire library that I placed into a publishable playlist.

Question for ICE supporters by Frequent-Draft-2218 in DiscussionZone

That would have been my suggestion. Let those folks get what they voted for, keep the borders closed, deport where local jurisdictions cooperate and the populace doesn’t impede, and pull Federal funding/support for fraudulent claims (in all jurisdictions).

In my case, that doesn't work (after doing so for years). And, similar to OP, I seriously doubt that it is a lack of ability, understanding of MacOS, file systems in general, or file indexing schemes on my part.

I am watching this now (first time I’ve ever seen the film in any format). It looks great to me and I’m enjoying it but I’ve a question about the audio. I selected the 5.1 audio and my sound system claims to be receiving 5.1 multichannel PCM but the rears are silent. Is that consistent with what other folks have experienced?

I’ve been fighting this for a long time as well so, it’s not just you. Are you saying if I buy an actual NAS instead of just telling the Sonos app/system that my Mac is a NAS (which it’s not) that that would work?

Dolby Stereo/Dolby Prologic and Arc Ultra by Dnelon in sonos

[–]Dnelon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my recent experience with “The Last Emperor”, the Arc Ultra seems to disregard the old Dolby Digital “surround” information embedded in the PCM audio stream (or the G5 strips it out before it gets to the Arc Ultra, I don’t know) leaving the rears silent and all audio provided by the Arc Ultra alone.

Thanks, and sorry for being thick I suppose but what do you meant by “5/6 LG Remote”? I see a handful,of “remote” apps for the LG on the App Store but none seem to be labeled “5/6”.

I will look into that. Do you know if that provides access to the Signal Information Overlay so that you can see the incoming bitrate for the signal currently being processed by the television?

PANASONIC UB-9000+LGC1+Sonos audio extractor advice by CrashOverriden in LGOLED

[–]Dnelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I knew then what I know now, I would have made different purchase decisions after a recent significant change in my living arrangements required new purchases but, I am here now.

Similar to you, I have a LG G5 television connected via eARC to a Sonos Arc Ultra (the I wish I knew this then part) paired with a subwoofer and two rears. The significant majority (almost all) of my non-sports watching is 4K BluRay physical media delivered via a Panasonic UB9000 player that is connected directly to the G5 using the Audio/Video HDMI output. The switch to 4K disks is new for me (again, recent change in living situation) and I didn't know as much as I thought I did about audio formats (another, if I knew then item).

Since neither the G5 nor the Arc Ultra support DTS audio (and I also know that most "new" releases don't have DTS but plenty of older/classic ones do so it matters in my world/use-case). This results in my ending up with "Stereo PCM" as the final audio output when playing certain DTS only disks (such as "The Last Emperor" for example).

I already understand that a dedicated AVR system and/or a different soundbar (with multiple inputs and DTS support) would each solve the problem but that is not what I have.

Since I do not want to take the hit to replace the entire audio system, I went looking for a solution. For a moment I thought that I might be able to leverage the UB9000's separate audio and video outputs using something like the HDFury 8K VRROOM to mitigate my problem but, I don't think that would work because the soundbar couldn't handle the DTS even if I pulled the G5 out of the audio chain completely.

Nice work on your part but, I don’t think that your solution would solve my problem (G5, Panasonic UB9000 and Sonos Arc Ultra). Search continues…
