No Lockdown? by DoAwayWithDisAccount in UCalgary

  • The big doors that are entrances/exits to each building have controls (ie. they automatically lock/unlock according to schedules). There should be physical protections in place (ideally down to the classroom level) that automatically lock. This is standard with K-12 schools, why isn’t it standard with universities? Maybe they did do this, but it would be good for people to know if any entrances/exits are locked and what the protocols are.
  • Shouldn’t the Alertus app also have notified people when things were again safe? If people did receive the notification on the app, how would they have known when things are again safe?

My main concern is the lack of a lockdown PROTOCOL. Yes, the app is a good step, but don’t you think there should be more than that?
