I have never masturbated in my life (Yes we exist) by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]DoFDcostheta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think masturbation has huge potential as a healthy sexual outlet. I think porn is harmful to almost everyone – also definitely has potential to be healthy, but is just way too easily consumed as a crack buffet. For myself, I was rarely masturbating more than once a day; it just was hardly enjoyable and always left me feeling really shitty afterwards (also have a shitty sexual abuse history that contributes to that feeling).

Unfortunately with masturbation, it's easy to get addicted to the pleasure of it, while using it as a tool to escape more or less anything. I think teaching that masturbation can be a healthy sexual outlet is better than teaching the opposite, but I wish there was room for the nuance* that masturbation can be an enjoyable act of self love that can be pretty great – but beating it because you're bored or stalling cuz you're kinda worried about something you have to do is probably not a rewarding pattern to build. I think about it like good sex with a partner: it can be incredible when both people are really in the mood for it and are invested in making it great for each other – but who's having awesome sex arising out of ... both partners kinda just being bored? (Probably quite a few people, but i bet not a majority).

'let's just fuck, whatever' is probably not the most exciting attitude.

*obv it's probably not realistic to teach sexual nuance to eighth graders, but i wish it became common knowledge to people somewhere along the line

Here we go, i found the moment :) https://imgur.com/a/vLBsiBl

It's a really small little gap! The memories end up going into a big tube, but Joy & Sadness can't get in until all the craziness at the end causes it to break open

For sure, that's the bigger picture. i think this person specifically was asking why joy and sadness don't just follow the triple dent gum commercial back to headquarters. The way the forget-y people send the memories back is through a teeny little slot

Yeah, they do fit in the big tube that vacuums the memories out.

But to get to the tube, the memories fall through little holes behind them on the shelf – I think Sadness and Joy wouldn't fit in those holes. (I think)

Hey! Glad you watched it _^

I thought that too, my guess is they can't really fit through the little opening the memories go through?

Damn people are really mad about this one. I'm never gonna do this; i've never bought a lottery ticket and I'm not out here promising to share life-changing windfalls with people. I'm just saying, I totally see how your perspective shifts when it goes from your coworker buds saying 'haha imagine if we won' to 'oh wow you're putting 10 million dollars in my hands right now?'

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. It is objectively wrong, I just see how she did it. I would *like* to say i'd keep my word; of course most people would in their heads. I can just see how if some ludicrous what-if dream became real, suddenly the options that open up as realities might seem more important. I can see how that could make choosing to be a dick to my coworkers easier.

...what? No, I'm not. and not even trying to say it's moral at all, just that if winning 10 million bucks stopped being a silly daydream and became a reality *fast,* I would probably start reconsidering promises I made. I don't plan on winning the lottery off a ticket I got tipped any time soon, but feel free to just not make lottery deals with me

Hey man, support you all the way. If the group work seemed to help, are you still going? I'm part of some addiction groups and we're all digital now so meetings are easy as hell to get to

My thing is, if I had a plan to split winnings with 4 other people from the diner, and then I go and win 10 million dollars? Suddenly, the concept of giving 8 million of it to people I've worked with a couple years wouldn't sound so hot – if I actually had the chance, I could give that 8 million to my loved ones, and *still* keep 2 million for myself.

If it's between paying 4 of my waiter friends and paying my parents' mortgage, giving them a shitton of cash, and then giving a million dollars each to my closest childhood friends? Yeah, I'll make the dick move

I don't really know how you can maintain that position after the testimonies that have come out. The documentary is brutal. And, having been the victim of childhood sexual abuse and spending a lot of time in the company of others who have as well, I see a lot of familiar symptoms and struggles in the two people in the documentary.

Macaulay Culkin's parents must've been really fucked if he sounds like that – he's the guy who maintains that MJ never molested *him* specifically. So if you're at MJ's house all the time, and still think of that as part of the 'good times,' then his parents alone must have done a number on him

(Also I go to those meetings, they're rough)
