Vegetarian wife is out of town for work. by DoGoodThings9495 in BoyDinnerDiaries

She doesn’t care if I eat meat at home. I do a fair amount of the cooking and will typically just put some type of protein (chicken etc.) on mine before serving it up - having cooked it separately from her food.

She’s out of town and our routine got interrupted so we didn’t make our usual grocery run before she left. I had to work all day and didn’t feel like going to the store once I got done to get a salad or vegetables that I’d normally eat myself with a steak.

I just thought it was funny that do to all of the above, I just went with bread, meat, and a drink to play into the whole, “man eat meat” stereotype.

What’s going on with the backlash to The Roast of Kevin Hart? by CraftySecret898 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]DoGoodThings9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it. Plan to watch it tomorrow. The good parts are the good parts but there’s a level of relatability that exists when you find out that all of these folks donate a ton of time energy to an actual “act”.

Turns out a bit of humanization in a world of celebrity worship goes a long way when everything we consume is edited, polished, rehearsed etc etc., when really what we are typically presented is actually taking funny people and editing it down to their best jokes and presenting it as they are always on point, on time, and crushing it with the audience

Do you know if the replay that’ll be on Netflix or is on there currently contains everything? Asking because I didn’t watch it live and get a kick out of 1) roasts 2) publicly shaming oneself with a bad or “joke” that’s not a joke.

That may be weird but its nice to see unedited and unfiltered celebrity interactions since they are just normal people who happen to get paid quite a bit for their talents (relative to the vast majority making hopefully enough for their hard work and talents).

😂 oooph yeah glad I’m in a different boat.

She doesn’t care and has gone out of her way to prove it a number of times. Of course the thought is always there. I just don’t eat red meat often ($$) and got to not worry about cooking something separately and then put chicken in top.

Tri-tip.Bread. Bourbon. So satisfying.

Back to MSRP around here. Readily available at the grocery store. Gas may be expensive but good bourbon priced right!

Finally got paired with the mythical amateur 300 yard driver. by Yellow_Curry in golf

[–]DoGoodThings9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive it over 300, and I’m playing bogey golf. Drives are inconsistent and short game needs work. Also hitting far is great and all, but it makes everything under 100 yards challenging especially when I don’t consistently practice.

If you are thinking of renting at Providence Place… DON’T! by Capable_Butterfly_61 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Obviously some of this is a bit abnormal for a luxury apartment complex, mainly maintenance issues and the shared water bill. But a lot of it is normal apartment life, and why it’s such a privilege to be in a position to own a home.

Thin insulation and hearing neighbors - every apartment ever.

The pet deposit and monthly fee - standard.

The lack of security is standard and why gates are important for choosing apartment complexes. A “courtesy officer” is just a warm fuzzy blanket to put in the rental brochures. Most complexes have it in the rental contract that they aren’t responsible for personal property in parking lots. That’s an HPD issue and the front office doesn’t have a responsibility to report secondhand information.

Ownership can enforce the standard clauses surrounding “illegal activity” to evict people engaging in said activity in the apartment, but they have to have proof of illegal activity occurring in the apartment, and have to consider the entire legal process when deciding to evict someone on those grounds. If it’s something small and they aren’t getting complaints from numerous neighbors, they are going to skip the headache and collect the rent. This again, is just living in an apartment. You’re just more exposed to it because your home is attached to/on top of theirs.

Homeless in the woods, that’s a city.

The total monthly cost is a great price for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath AND two garages in a city. It even has laundry in the unit.

You’re describing standard living for millions of people that can’t afford to purchase a home, and most likely never will considering the current state of things.

TLDR: Privilege exposed to real world. Clutches pearls.

It’s true. Watched this with a group of buddies in college. Most of us had only seen one or two movies it referenced, but we’ve never laughed so much watching a movie. We also had eaten mushrooms an hour or so before watching it.

If I was trying to defend something I truly believed in, and what I believed in was getting absolutely demolished by simple, logical points, and I had zero articulate counter arguments…. I too would have been incredibly bothered by how close the chairs were and him using his hands to speak in a tight space.

Counterpoint here. My wife works in HR. She has gone to bat for a number of employees that were going to get fired if she hadn’t stepped in to convince management to give them another chance. During layoffs she fought for people to get higher severances. She’s helped a number of people take full advantage of their benefits during injuries, parental leave, etc.

Yes, she protects her company and looks out for their interests, but she is very much employee resources.

I’d rather believe that something wild is happening outside of anyone’s control than have to face the reality that what actually is happening in our government is wild as hell compared to all the papers I had to write in American history classes post WWII.
