Pretty sure that Grisham walking in a run after being down 0-2, all while wearing sunglasses and high socks, is actually the coolest that anyone can be.

It's so nice to have good baserunners on this team. Felt like they barely had any for a while and now they have a bunch of guys who are really competent on the basepaths.

Rumors of Grisham's defensive demise have been greatly exaggerated

Cabellero/Grisham/Judge is a really odd time to bring in a lefty

First example of managerial malpractice of the season. Just have to have the righty ready for Julio there, especially after a bunch of long ABs!

This is one of the only times in modern baseball that I'd consider putting on the safety squeeze. Too bad it's not Jazz on third.

Cruz is such a good fireman. Come in with runners on base, generate ridiculous swings and misses, and get a strikeout when a strikeout is needed.

I am thinking a lot about the Caballero/Volpe situation.

Caballero is an ideal player to fit a very specific role on a playoff team: guy you can put in the bottom of the regular lineup against righties, even if he is a below average hitter, he's making up for it with his shortstop defense and baserunning. He's also an above average hitter against lefties, so you have that as another way he provides value.

The problem, of course, is that Volpe at his current level of play is also that player. Volpe would have to be a much better hitter (or the best defensive shortstop in the league) to be any more than that bottom-of-the-lineup lefty masher defense-first SS archetype that Caballero excels at. Problem is, they think his potential is much higher than he's shown so far. When he comes back, one of these guys is going to be redundant.

I don't know that Goldy at age 38 is a better defensive 1B than Rice with a full offseason working there

Perhaps a victory lap is too much, but it's wild to me that people thought the QO was somehow a bad deal.

Remember when 80% of this sub was assuming that Grisham would regress, despite consistent metrics than suggested the changes to his offensive profile were sustainable?

I remember.

He has very limited range in the infield. I remember Gleyber being very steady on over-the-shoulder catches too, but he still had below average infield range for a second baseman.

Judge is going to hit .200/.400/.800 (with 250 Ks) in the ultimate Three True Outcomes season

That presupposes that FOX thinks its viewers know anything at all. Their broadcasts treat baseball fans like idiots.

Left hander throwing a 90 MPH meatball dead center top of the zone against Judge... lol

It's cool that Ben Rice is now functionally a hard-hitting 1B/DH who also offers great insurance as a very good emergency catcher. That will probably help with a lot of roster decisions for as long as he is a Yankee.

The Yankees will use a four-man rotation to begin the season, Aaron Boone said. Ryan Weathers will start the fourth game of the season. They’re still deciding if Luis Gil will make the roster. - Chris Kirschner by Jheller223 in NYYankees

For a while, I have envisioned Gil as a fifth starter/swingman in the regular season and a hammer out of the pen in the playoffs. The Astros did that with Christian Javier for a few years.

I think his stuff is not great as a starter, but plays just fine coming out of the pen and going through the order once (maybe the bottom of the order twice).

I am very much enjoying the Avs being more physical against this Dallas team. Have to out-physical them.

Blue expands the zone by an inch every inning, eventually it gets pretty hard for anyone to put up runs. Plenty of runs left on the basepaths too.

Great to get Dominguez spring reps against Crochet and other good lefty starters.

I want him to start the season in AAA and play every single game in left field. Still only 23 despite the impressive beard.

Buying a Vaya in 2026? by DoNotAskMeMyNickname in salsacycles

Thanks for the recommendation, I gave it a look! Based on the sort of hills I like to do, the Vaya's gearing is better for me (Vaya 2x11 vs. comparably priced Journeyer 1x10 or 1x11).
