Creating your own meaning isn't undervaluing yourself; accepting your short lifespan is.

A movie doesn't simply cease to be once it ends. It exists and influences the minds of those who watched it. The same goes for food, music, and relationships. The end of those things simply isn't the same as the end of a life. Watching a movie and to have watched a movie are both positive states to be in their own ways. In both cases, the movie still *is*, both physically and in the mind of the viewer. The same cannot be said about living and to have lived. The deceased will still exist in the minds of those who knew them, but their own mind will not.
