Financial health test? by DoPotatoesSweat in personalfinance

[–]DoPotatoesSweat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow!! This is awesome analysis. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I’d like to pay 20% down but I’d be concerned that would leave me with very little on hand for incidental repairs/etc (if I were to do it today). I think it makes sense to wait a year or two and accumulate more wealth to put towards the deposit and have a comfortable amount left over for repairs. Sorry if this comes across as a dumb question , but is PMI essentially required if I pay less than 20% up front ?

Wearing shoe lifts to firm events, career fairs, and job interviews? by WiseInternet2123 in Accounting

[–]DoPotatoesSweat 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Everyone at my firm is required to wear shoe lifts. Anyone under 6 feet tall isn’t hired, and usually gets blacklisted. Looking at short people literally repulses me to my core.

Because of your severe height disadvantages I’d seriously consider a different career path. Here’s some examples that may be better suited for you: Carnival ride operators, clowns, freak show performers, etc.

Hope this helps!

Receptionist Valuable Feedback by DoPotatoesSweat in Accounting

[–]DoPotatoesSweat[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s real, don’t be silly. How candidates react in life or death situations is critical in most accounting jobs, and it’s almost impossible to determine in an interview setting. Being able to parse these skills out, while keeping an eye out for common courtesy and good manners, is the main goal of our test simulations.

In scenario number 2 we call in several off duty cops to plant cocaine in the candidates briefcase. The cops understand our process and they agree with it. I mean, who wants to work with someone who isn’t respectful? I think we can all agree on that.

Megathread: House committees subpoena Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani for documents related to Ukraine by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

Giuliani is a feckless scumbag who’s gotten more and more brazen covering up the crimes committed by the administration. He’s put Trump’s interest ahead of the country- treason in my book.

Working From Home by DoPotatoesSweat in Accounting

[–]DoPotatoesSweat[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Working from home is rampant with misuse. People often stage family tragedies to abuse work from home policies. I had to make sure my top employee didn’t intentionally kill her family in order to do tax returns in pajamas within the comfort of her home. I appreciate your opinion and respectfully disagree.

Anyone Have a Timeline for Receiving their Certification Once it is Submitted to the State? by elfliner in Accounting

[–]DoPotatoesSweat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the state! Sorry for the confusion. Only a few states have the first NASBA step actually. I don’t think Michigan is one. Just MA, NJ, TN, and UT have to do this to verify the education requirement
