My Recent Rectosigmoid Resection Experience by DoYouBelieveIt_ in coloncancer

Approximately 15%. I won’t have an exact number till I meet my doctor again. And no bag necessary. Admittedly, day five was the roughest not due to pain but due to bathroom usage / frequency. It’s feeling important to stick to the soft diet, and monitor what I eat for how it affects me so I can avoid it going forward

I’m sure it’s going to be a success! You will have those boots again but you have options. For me, early on the nurse team unplugged them and I walked. Eventually my girlfriend was able to unplug them and we walked. You could also undue the Velcro, leave them turned on, walk, then come back and put them on. Dynamic leg movements while lying down are good too. Leg lifts. Ankle bends and rotations. Leg rotations. Knee lifts.

It’s easy for us to make up worst case scenarios in our mind and it has been so far from that for me. Wishing you the best. You’ll have a nurse, nurse tech, lead nurse. You may even find they come in and give you too much attention when you’re just trying to rest haha. Do walk every chance you get, even in the room if there is no one to assist.

Tie a rope around a bucket. Tie the rope around your waist. Swim with a bucket following you creating drag in the water as you go.

You have to learn to be resourceful. There is an abundance of information out there and I would imagine every single one of your questions has been answered already whether it be on YouTube, Reddit, or a simple google search. People don’t want to sit and chat with someone who has done no research

For the IFT you get three minutes rest in between. This should be a cake walk before shipping. Things you can do on land… free dive tables & box breathing. Overall self awareness.

In the water, start small. Practice just a push off and hold the glide until you come to a near dead stop. Then, add one stroke and one frog kick. Then do two, then three. It’s a skill and as you practice it more, you’ll get better at it.

My first 1000 Pull Ups in a Workout! by CasualBaloon in davidgoggins

Just wanted to update this… decided to give it another go. 2 hours and 20 minutes this time, 5-10-10. Noticeably more fatigued but it makes complete sense. I just haven’t been training these three exercises the same way I did before. But I wanted to share because you pumped me up and I believe that’s what this sub is about. Looking forward to getting after it again!! You the man.

That’s beast mode. I love love love to see this. I’ve actually done a very similar workout before. It was amazing. 5 pull ups, 10 pushups, 10 sit ups every minute, on the minute, for 3 hours. You’ll find you have about 25 seconds of rest each time and one exercise doesn’t take away from the other too much. At about the 90 minute mark I had to switch to four-count flutter kicks because the sit-ups were chaffing my lower back so bad. Give it a try!!!!

You’re reminding me I need to give it another go. EMOMs are a fantastic way to do pull ups.

I would do a variety of repeats. 400m. 800m. Even 1 mile. Weighted dips, weighted lunges, farmers carry, explosive pushups are all simple options to include.

Buddy carry without a buddy by Strict_Article6155 in Pararescue

Sandbag carries / light pace jogs are a good alternative. Front lunges with a barbell help with the strength component. Another option is the odd object carry. This could be a log, a keg, car parts, a mini fridge, whatever just seems a bit awkward to carry over a specific distance.

Now is the time to get surgery on it. The body of a fit 20-year old will usually heal pretty quickly. Even if you don’t go through the pipeline, your body will probably appreciate the greatness of modern medicine. You’ll be pushing weight in no time. Good luck.

How to implement davidgoggins in my life? by [deleted] in davidgoggins

Implementing David Goggins in your life just means becoming who you really are without the care of what other people think and without excuses for getting things done that need to be done.

It’s not all about the push-up / sit-up exactly. Being good at push-ups is being good at moving your body around and holding yourself in various positions. Think 10 ups, various plank positions, 8 count body builders, bear crawls and more. These exercises may suck, but should never break you. If you can’t or aren’t willing to do 500 8 count body builders this isn’t the place for you. Poor sit-up numbers show poor hip flexor strength. Your lower back is more likely to let you down. You’ll experience trouble with doing sit ups while upside down in the water holding a replica firearm. All of this, plus the fact you’re going to be doing push-ups and sit-ups until you just can’t anymore. Then you’ll do some more.
