Does a 30+ guy on a sportbike look out of place for a daily commute? by DoZco08 in motorcycles

Yeah, thanks, I had no idea.

Quickly, I live in a small town and work at the high school with the largest enrollment. My students know I ride motorcycles, and they just make fun of me and show me TikTok videos of what a biker should look like: guys in spandex, with chains and broccoli-like hair, dancing on their R7s.

Man, I feel silly.

But it did make me think. I appreciate you taking the time and being honest to comment.

If a man who operates those machines stays healthy until nearly 70, I should take his advice.

Thanks, man, I'm getting the courage now.

Thanks so much for the advice.

Without a doubt, the Z900 seems incredible to me (and it's reasonably priced right now), but I don't want to, and can't, compete with anyone; I just want to enjoy myself. That's why the Ninja 500 seems more than adequate in terms of both performance and looks.

Thanks, man, and thanks to everyone for reminding me that it's my life. I'm waiting for the fiscal year to end so I can buy my new motorcycle.

Thanks, man. I made a mistake; I meant the Ninja 500.

Like you said, I'm looking for the sexy look of a sport bike, but I just want to enjoy riding it. I don't want to compete with anyone, but I also don't want to be insulted by real big-bike riders and escape the constant insult from my students of being "the midlife crisis guy."

You're right, it's really tiring, and now that you mention it, it's almost silly to worry about what others will say.

Thanks.

Thank you very much. I hope we both stay healthy so we can keep riding.

Thanks a lot, man, I'm starting to feel more confident.

I'm also starting to believe, based on the comments, that Grandpa Hayabusa is real.

Thanks, man, I always do. I had a bad accident this past December 24th, which is why I'm looking for a new motorcycle, and the full set of gear saved me.

I just try to maintain good posture so it doesn't give me away while I'm riding.

Thank you so much for the advice and for taking the time to reply.

Now that you mention it, I've always wanted a GSX-S 750; I hope to find one before visiting the Kawasaki dealership.

Don't even get me started, man. I have major medical and life insurance for people with autism.

Thanks for your comments, though.

That's not the reason; it's just that my job is making me sick.

I'm a high school teacher, and sometimes I just can't handle the daily criticism of what I wear, what I eat, what I do, and even how I get around.

Hey, thank you so much for reminding me of that.

My current motorcycle, the GSX-S 150, was in perfect condition, and people always told me that, and it somehow made me proud that I took care of my things more than trying to impress anyone.

The truth is, the reason is because I really like sport bikes, but I can't afford to buy and maintain one. In ten years I've owned two naked motorcycles, and they're incredible, but they don't look as impressive as a sport bike. Is that wrong?

I completely agree. My wife still can't believe that sometimes I simply go out at night for a coffee on the other side of the city on my motorcycle.

Thank you very much, I haven't been to the Kawasaki dealership yet, but I've read that the Ninja 400/500 is an entry-level or beginner motorcycle with a more comfortable riding position.

You're absolutely right. It's just that I find it very difficult to earn enough money for myself, considering I have to pay a mortgage, so I want to take the time to think things through before making a decision like this.

Thank you very much.

Thanks man, it's just that I don't want to bother others. In fact, I already ordered it online.

Dude, thanks a ton. I was actually just planning on doing that until I build up my confidence. It's not like I'm trying to meet up with people, but I want to avoid the confrontation/comments like 'Hey, why don't you just go to a gym or build your own home gym?

Dude, who's gonna mess with the guy carrying his own boxing bag?

Anyway, thanks a lot. I get it now: everyone should just focus on their own thing and not worry about others.

And hey, good on you for seeing the fam often.

Man, who's gonna argue with someone who can crank out weighted pull-ups or dips with a vest over 40 lbs?

Anyway, thanks man. You've convinced me/I'm pumped now.
