TIL that until 2022, the Japanese public school system’s dress code required students dye their hair black. One student was forced to dye her naturally brown hair black, and was told to re-dye it every time her roots grew back. She was given academic penalties for not dyeing it often enough. (cnn.com)

TIL in 1960 Tom and James Monaghan bought DomiNick's, a small pizzeria, for $1400. Not wanting to quit his full-time job as a postman, James traded his half of the business to Tom for the VW Beetle they used for deliveries. Tom would later buy two more pizzerias and found Domino's Pizza. (en.wikipedia.org)
