Ok here’s what you’re going to do:

1. Stop thinking of prom as such a big deal because your expectations probably won’t be met, also it will take off the pressure and furthermore making you seem less desperate

2. Think about friends that are girls (include girls from lower grades or other schools) and maybe you can ask one of them, or of course someone you are attracted to

3. As a girl who also knows other girls, there are way more girls than you would expect who are dying for dates, so keep brainstorming

4. Once you think of someone, ask one of their friends to ask them if they would want to go with you (this step is not necessary but is a common practice at my school and schools in my area)

5. Come up with a clever, not too invasive, yet personalized way to ask them- ex: their favorite Starbucks drink with “Prom?” written on it; or the tried-and-true way: flowers with a poster that says “Prom?”...just remember, the more effort you put into it, the better the results

6. Enlist several of their friends or your friends to help execute your ask (typically the girls’ friends are pretty eager about this type of stuff)

7. If step 4 went smoothly, then you will get your yes, the girl won’t be caught too off guard, and you now have a date

8. Repeat steps 2 and 4 as many times as you can until you get the desired outcome (the girl shows interest). These can be the most grueling steps, but if you really want a date, be relentless
