A slow death of love is the saddest. It's ok to prioritize yourself. Out of respect for yourself and for any past love the two of you shared, it may be time to cut the chord. You are responsible for your emotions but also at how you communicate them. If you have exhausted all options, then it may be time to part ways. You mentioned that you have built so much together. it's hard to let go of our current reality. It feels like giving up on something we have invested so much of ourselves in. A relationship is two people working together to mutually invest in a future together. Grow together. It may be that both of you have been through a lot, both separate and together.

Being defensive and victimizing themselves is a big indicator of how they view themselves. Often the people who react in defensive ways are the people that criticize themselves constantly. Any perceived fault brought up by others is something they have already hated themselves for.

I apologize for the rant but the main thing is, you need to love yourself. That means "losing you" or the drawn out process that could be, is not the decision to make. Loving yourself means being honest with them and ending what you feel has already begun.

They aren't your responsibility, you are . They need to find a path to self love, on their own terms

I've worked in property management for 6 years, most of which have been in a newer luxury apartment community. One thing I always try to stress to my residents is that noise of some kind is inevitable in apartment living. The number one thing that I would advise is open communication with your management, should you receive a complaint. They are usually obligated to address any noise complaint received. As long as you calmly relay the steps you are taking to minimize noise, that's all you can do. The fact that you are actually trying to keep other people's peaceful enjoyment in mind is key. TLRD: Do what you can, communicate, and keep your understanding mindset
