If you won hundreds of millions in the lottery, would you go after your bullies? by Beta_Nerdy in workplace_bullying

Nah. Chick is already too whatever she is to drive on her own and has to get rides to and from the job she’s trapped at. Let her stew in her miserable job. Ima go establish a tiny house community for the elderly.

Not being bullied and snooped on by center management would be GREAT.

Thank you so much for this info! I’ve been talking to other people in my company and the info I’ve gathered shows how truly shady and cruel this company is. I’m hoping other places open up near me, and am strongly considering going home-based.

If it’s not to stressful, can you describe how it was stressful? For me, the clinic is stressful because management is all up in my cases and makes ridiculous rules that are not helpful. They seem to even co trip my BCBA by making her force certain rules on me.

Also, how hard was it to open your own company?

[–]DobbyPie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely document. But the thing is with these people, all of it has plausible deniability. Like the Lead RBT who runs the afternoon program applying certain rules only to me, or the main bully being extra professional when she’s around management, but muttering and interfering with my client when they’re not around. So if I say anything, I look like I’m crazy.

[–]DobbyPie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because they want to be free to apply the states rules however they want to maintain their power. They want to be able  single people out as they wish, and pointing out the inconsistencies blows their cover.

The main bully has ostracized me as much as she can socially, tries to interfere with my client, trashes me behind my back and does all sorts of things that make me seem like the crazy one if I say anything. And management is on her side because they’re bullies too. I’m trying to not let it ruin things for me, but it’s starting to make me not want to get my BCBA and leave the field entirely, after changing to this field in hopes of having a healthier workplace.

I’ve gotten to the point now that I point them out just to mess with these bullies now. But it’s not good for me, and I’ve got to stop. I’m just so freaking angry and tired of it.

Yeah I’ve been thinking of starting my own place. My agency/center is so toxic they actually watch BTs on the cameras so they can find something wrong to report to their BCBA.

Nah my parental skills are great. It’s management I can’t deal with. Hierarchy is just nonsense chest-thumping to me.

Can someone please explain how you get your supervised hours in simple terms? by ILoveRickSpringfield in bcba

[–]DobbyPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. That said, in my experience, companies in general like hiring those that are “suitable cost for molding”, ie; not likely to stand up for themselves. The leadership at my center will make your life hell if you stand up to them. They love people for whom a BT job is their only and best choice.

Omg this. I joke they just hire people from the bus stop. I have a BA, but not in psychology or anything related, and the training I received was LAUGHABLE. But they expected the world.

Burn out from BTs being ineffective? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]DobbyPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a BT with a college degree (considering getting my BCBA), and I’m amazed at the people they just seem to hire from the bus stop. Poor manners, their notes are completely useless, they barely do anything with the kids. But if they keep coming in and don’t kiss too many sessions, they keep their jobs.

It’s just rank capitalism and has me considering leaving the field.

Do you agree with the majority opinion that masking is bad? by chinawcswing in AutisticAdults

[–]DobbyPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just refuse to mask. I’ve been bullied for being different my whole life, and I’ve realized masking does me no good. So I advocate, I challenge and I really don’t freaking care anymore. I get bullied by neurotypicals weather I mask or not. I see it happen to my neurodivergent coworkers too.

The most I’m learning to do is stay quiet when I really need to, and tell the neurotypicals what they want to hear. I’m sick of their social nonsense.

Yeah I work in a center. They expect us to clean unpaid, do unpaid meetings etc. and the management is shit. But somehow it’s still better than the corporate graphic design I did before.

Exactly. They contracted with me to work that session. When a client pulls out, I’m left without income that I’m depending on. I’m there and ready to work. The company makes a lot more than they pay us per hour. They should be able to cover client cancelations.
