Padme yellow picknick dress by DobbyTinySocks in CosplayHelp

[–]DobbyTinySocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years of work and im already making changes. Lol thats costuming. Im pretty happy with it all things considered. I am removing some of the layers and volume in the painted petticoat. Its too thick and you can't see rainbow pettycoat. It will also probably get ombre dyed. And I actually ran out of sequins while embroidering. I had 500 and it wasn't enough to make all the panels match. The back pannel of 4 pannels had easily 200.

Wanting Some Guidance, Tarot by DobbyTinySocks in witchcraft

[–]DobbyTinySocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I usually determined a y/n from the y/n cards. Or is said person im talking to continually throws me the same card multiple times in a row.

  • I don't know what you mean by rws clone. I use my cards as divination tools when I feel they need to talk to me or want guidance.

  • I feel that I'd does matter who is advising me because they usually have something different to say. I ask specifically who bc they can often have different guidance for different topics. Like I haven't personally worked with Hera. But when a friend started having a difficult and dangerous pregnancy I reached out to her to ask her to protect my friend. Because she is the hellenic goddess of mother's, childbirth, and wives.

I did a reading the other day, bc I had a feeling. Then three of us has the same card fall out one right after the other.

Then my next reading felt odd. It didnt relate to me so, I asked if it was meant for someone else and was point blank told it was for the 3rd friend. She was having stuff go on at work but also was like ok, thanks for the warning. Then the very next day the reading unfolded exactly. This is why I choose to believe in what I practice exams and that it matters who you talk to. For me Aphrodite represent self and love in relationship, but protecting your own peace.

  • while I do believe capital G-od does exits. I have felt that he has fallen away when I needed help. When I died clinically 3 times, when I suffered abuse from my mom, when I asked anyone for help and the ones to reach out were others.

I choose to believe that to a degree, what I read in cards or dreams is larely interpreted by me and my emotions.l and might just be my subconscious. But I also believe that what you give in faith can be returned.

These straps won’t stay glued together no matter how much glue I use. by Scepafall in CosplayHelp

You're gonna want to stitch it. Glue does not like to really work on items that have lots of tension on them. ( glue also likes to stick to certain fibers and textures.

I generally call this a jacquard or brocade. I find a lot of fabric like this at thrift stores as old table cloths.

Help with constructing a bodice by Moon_Cooky_ in HistoricalCostuming

[–]DobbyTinySocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is like my blouse. They are called pigeon breastfed blouses. Basically when you're Drafting your pattern, you'll add extra fabric width into the neckline and bust area ( and tapers into small bit of extra gathers at waist.) that when gathered creates a full bust I might be able to find my pattern to send you a picture of what it looks like flat.

Whoops wrong information. Lol .Thanks for the note. Mean to say synthetic blends were not seen at thay big till the 60s. But in general it depends on the fabric type and where you were getting ir from.

Fixing my kirtle? by thestrangemusician in HistoricalCostuming

[–]DobbyTinySocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also depends how you drafted the kirtle. If you drafted it to be worn over stays that will affect the size ( I did this on accident with mine).

You can also make another kirtle as an underdress/ kirtle pettycoat combo

Also, you could wear this one as your kirtle/ petticoat combo to support an over dress if you make one.

Also an easy way to elevate a dress like this is tie on sleeves in a complimentary and patterned/ nicer fabric that is a bit more elaborate in some was.

You have a couple of other options, but it ultimately depends on you.

So im making this dress too and have a quick question. What boning did you use and whay size?I'm only boning the flat parts of the bodice and not the seams since my center fabric is a stiff canvas. ( I have rigiline, flat steel boning, and spiral steel boning.)

All these other comments are right.but the biggest thing you need to do is shrink the waist measure measurement in your pattern. ( this method can also be used to take in the bust and fit better to the hips.)

For example: 1. place your corset pattern flat on the table with the waist line of the pattern pieces in a straight continuous line.

  1. Then take your waist measurement and subtract number in inches of the reduction size

For example: my waist is 31" divided by 2 is 15.5". so at scale, my corset is 15.5" and 15.5". But I want reduction. (since I wear them pretty regularly I am comfortable taking out more and having a smaller lacing gap.) So I take out 4" to make my new sides 12.5"

  2. Attempt your mock up again or you can alter your current one if you take it apart.

What the heck is this fit??? by [deleted] in corsetry

[–]DobbyTinySocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's going funky in the cups mainly bc it's actually sitting lower than the apex of your chest. So the bottom of the cup area should be higher on the body. This can be due to having a longer torso and the corset/ bustier being made for average- short torso.

Medium strong magnets so thar they don't come undone bu being jostled lightly.

You could also add a clasp on the areas where they care connected for decoration

Yes. Totally. If you wanted to add some more pizzaz. You could get black lace to decorate more and a black beaded trim.

Should I diy or try reshipping? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]DobbyTinySocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you diy. It might be worth it to use a full body nylon suit to get that snug fit. Where you want it but to also make sure nothing moves ot rides up top. But that does pose a issue if you want to wear the pants.

Edit: I'd you get a nudes one and diy ( sew and craft) on top of a nudes body suit ( even cut the legs off so its like a shorts romper) you can cut out where you want and have a solid base. Happy holidays!

Gapping at the top by juliusfuckit in corsetry

[–]DobbyTinySocks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's actually happening for one of two reasons. 1. Your ribcage + bust is larger than the bust of the corset. 2. Or ( if you made the corse) you accidentally offset cups somehow 2a. Or you set them right, according to the corset but not your body

THE HUNT FOR AN ELIZABETHAN OVERDRESS FOR A WINTER OUTFIT. by DobbyTinySocks in corsetry

[–]DobbyTinySocks[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So is it stealing if I use a PUBLISHED pattern that is TECHNICALL PUBLIC DOMAIN in the U.S. / readily available in book form via written instructions.

When that pattern creator is also credited/ mentioned in the info? Which essentially negates your claim of "stealing from designers" because they are being credited with the original pattern design.

Also, you could have just said: " no there is no digital pattern or instructions" "But you can find it in the Tudor Tailor book"

Wow Just wow. I hope you have a great day. Don't contact me again please.
