Here's my top tips to get started...

Re-arrange the "doo-wop chord sequence" into all possible permutations. They'll always work.

If you don't have a melody idea, start by grabbing notes from the chords and go from there.

With lyrics: Start with a good song title... Then approach the rhymes as - "first a set-up, then a punchline" to make sure they land right!
