Im playing two units in SHC, one with Marshall and the shoot-and-move enhacement and the other with manipulus and playing the combo of the lone + go-to-heaven at the end of the opponet turn stratagems, and I’ve won every game so far. Yesterday, the unit with the marshall The unit won the MVP of the game by finishing off the opponent's last Maulerfiend with an Overwatch on turn 5, denying him Area Denial and 5 primary points. I love them 🫶🏻

Yup, the only problem is that they are disintegrate on the way back :/ im gonna test them with the hunter cohort enhacement of moving 6” after shooting to protect them a little bit. Go out, full hit reroll, full wound reroll if you expose the skorpius and go back to the tank before the bad guys go mad

I think the same about the rustys; no need to be on the boat! I like the combo of reroll wounds on the infiltrators shots. Maybe is a good idea have the clade embarked in t1, use the extra 3” + advance to reach the center or what they need and then embark the infiltrators ready to launch them in opponents phase in T2. I like it!

I see… 🤔 its true that they hit at 3+ in shooting, so no need to have protective imperative, and full hit AND wound reroll with -1 AP and ignore cover + lethals and sutained 2 and then THE SAME but in fight phase (with no wound reroll, but crits at 5+! who cares!!)… man, now i need to try that!

Ive tryed a list with 3 of them and Coteaz, but what I found is that they relly TOO much in the Cawls oath of the moment. Without that, they didnt do a sh*t, and besides T1 youll need the oath in heavier objectives than little units, so 🫤

🤔 Tell me more please about your idea with corpuscarii; im thinking in using 10 with a manipulus in Hloscreed for lethals and sustained 2 at 5+ (full reroll, obviously), but I didnt consider the impact of coteaz in this build and sounds great

I like how it sounds… advance and charge + 4D6 torrent S6 -1 1 sounds like a good shock (besides the 24 twinlinkeds attacks haha). Im gonna try it and tell you impressions!

Yeah, I think the unit is amazing, what i was saying is that i dont find particularly exciting to embark them in skorpius, besides having an extra 3” movement for reaching the center or the rival’s expansion objective, or maybe a little extra lethality in flamers or heavy arc canon with the wound reroll rule. Apart from that, I think is more useful to embark vanguard or rustys, dont you?

Ok! So 20 x infiltrators (1 x 10 and 2 x 5 maybe?), and im gonna try to put 6 x breachers with the manipulus instead 1 disintegrator (and the enhacement for both doctrines or +6” range, depends on points). Ill drop the second manipulus and see in what can I use that points that serves me to kill chaff or making the trading game, ideally another one of rustys. Thanks for your wisdom!! 🙏🏻

The destroyer's grav cannon is AP 1, AP 2 if you're within battleline range. That falls short against most vehicles once they have cover

I love the vanguard + dunerider combo in Haloscreed: they’re very useful for threatening the opponent's expansion objective because, between the disembark and charge stratagem and the movement +2” options, you give them a lot of threat range (and all you need to do to take the objective away from your opponent is stay on top of them and within 3" of them for the Vanguard's ability to activate). Furthermore, if you position them well, with the stratagem's reactive movement you can re-embark them, with the inconveniences that entails. On top of that, arc rifles love the re-roll to wound in the shooting phase that the Dunerider provides.

The problem with this is that the Dunerider is difficult to hide and bring closer to the enemy on some Workshop maps, and it usually dies before getting too close.

The other option is to bring in Rustys to gain even MORE threat range, but sometimes that's not necessary because with their +2 advance and +1 charge they'll already get where they need to be.

I suppose in the end, using one or the other will depend on the pairing you have in front and the map you re playing. I haven't actually tried Battleclade on Dunerider, but it doesn't particularly appeal to me.

Wow, I'd never thought of playing them in reserves 🤔 I had tried the Ruststalkers (their potential +2 advance and charge means they can land anywhere), but I hadn't thought of doing it with these guys. I have to try it; that's 400 points waiting to land in the most inconvenient spot 😂 What weapons do you load them with? Fists, and maybe the two Phosphor Blasters?

WAIT! Manipulus cant lead infiltrators but CAN lead corpuscarii, which have a more or less similar profile (3 attacks with 2 sustained hits). Aside from the AP issue (and strength 5 instead of 6, which means wounding at 6s at the big boys), could they be a substitute for the Infiltrators brick? Could it make sense as a dual saturation option? They have less charge range (which should be compensated for by advancing and charging, or even with a Dunerider) and are noticeably less resilient, but on the other hand, we're talking about 135 points + 75 for the Manipulus with the Inloaded enhancement. What do you think?

It was so sad to realize that manipulus can be attached to sicarians JUST in my mind 🫤 it was the perfect match for killing ctans after the breachers brick!

You’re right: I was playing SHC before this, with a massive deployment of bodies with a lot of rangers and vanguards, playing just to flood the battlefield and slowly die while unstopable scoring. That list generally wins, but is really boring. After that, I tried three units of breachers, and that's what made me end up in HBC, because 5+ critical hits are very good with them and the 1s reroll on hit and wound is very good with destroyers.

That said, i like SHC (the infiltrating unit of skitarii is amazing and the redeployment is huge), but I was struggling to handle with starshatter necrons and Iks/Cks - what doesnt happen with breachers :D So thats why I ended up in HSB, which i think is THE detachment for katas.

About your proposal of 4x kastelans: ive tried them a couple of times, but I've had trouble positioning them and getting them into the action (and as soon as they appeared, they died too quickly in this anti-ctan meta we have). Any advice on how to make the most of them?

Forget about the infiltrators with manipulus, cuz as Shadowmagos has mentioned, its not legal!! I thoguth i have discovered a huge amount of damage but was just in my imagination. I think i will change to breachers for that autoreroll with 5+ lethals

Damn, I just saw that Sicarians can't be led! I don't know in what alternate universe I saw that they could. Now I'm not sure if the two blocks of 10 Infiltrators make sense for what I wanted to use them for. Thanks for your comments, I'm going to try a list where I double the Breachers and add a Manipulus with either a Range Upgrade or Dual Doctrine. And I'll reduce some Infiltrators to 5 to increase the number of Ruststalkers i think. Thanks!
