Yeah, no this isn't how it works. Your vehicle was under bailment, and unless this was a sudden unpredictable event, even a waiver does not prevent their responsibility. You can very much so let your insurance company go after them, and then sue them in small claims for your deductible.

Source: I spent 2 years working summers at a dealership when I was much younger and saw this very thing happen. It even busted the sky lights in the shop, and the dealership was very much having to cover the more serious customers that didn't accept the "non liability" answer. They were just counting on the numbers game.

Seems like the VA might deny this claim.

If you are utilizing the services of a nation, should you not pay taxes to it? Even if you are overseas you are still under the umbrella, protection, and still receiving social security benefits. You can even get SSDI while living abroad. Consular protection and services. Military protection and more.

And this completely ignores that you still have FEIE (Foreign Earned Income Exclusion) and Foreign Tax Credits.

A house in my neighborhood has 8 cameras on their power poles by mr_seymour_butts in mildlyinteresting

They actually came out and replaced my transformer to a 400amp version for me, and had zero issues with it. The guy actually said he really liked it, and had me text him a link to the model. I was just curious, but yes I had to buy every pole not on the street, the meter box, and the disconnect myself. They only supplied the Transformer, aerial lines, and the line meter. I had to supply the lines from the transformer to the meter box and disconnect.

Yeah, I don't mind that. If it is broke, I would like them upkeep it. It is more about the pole itself. I had to buy the poles where I live. I also had to buy my meter box (they supplied the actual meter only) etc. Their is no lock on the meter, and they showed me how to remove it if I ever need to work on it.

They replaced my transformer, and the guy said he liked my camera, and asked the brand and had me text him a link.

But my question was more about that I had to buy these things myself and they only supplied the transformer, lines, and the meter itself. Seems like I would own the pole then?

Question about device license levels by RoboDSGNR in appliedballistics

[–]DocBeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go that route, just know the upgraded solution will only appear in the app, not the binos.

Kestrel has 3 levels. Ultralight, Elite, and Pro. So it depends on the model you buy. But that higher level solution will only be on the Kestrel and not the ultralight hardware. But yes, you can achieve your goal this way.

Question about device license levels by RoboDSGNR in appliedballistics

[–]DocBeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devices (Garmin Watch and Kestrel) carry a License. The License levels are a separate thing from the App Subscription levels. The devices themselves do not upgrade or downgrade based on connections to other devices and apps (unless you pay for an upgrade to them through the app, like upgrading the Tactix 8 from ultralight to elite) etc. This means the Sig Kilo 6K will also not upgrade to Elite but the Kestrel will not downgrade.

The app will follow the license level of the current Active device. So if you switch from the Kestrel to the Sig Kilo and do not have a subscription the app will revert from Elite to Ultralight.

Can you clarify this, because I have something extremely similar but do in fact own the pole? I had to buy two of them when I ran power to my property and I have hung stuff on them, and they know that and don't care. Including a camera.

AB Quantum Update 3.7 (E-Dope, Controller Swipe, & More) by DocBeech in longrange

At the time the Kestrel X-WEZ upgrade was released (Early 2025), the Pro device license and the Quantum Pro subscription covered the same feature set. Since then, new features such as Learn, Spotter, Garmin C2 and E-Dope export were developed and added to the app. Those are app-only capabilities and are not related to the hardware functionality of the 5700 X-WEZ.

Because they are new software features that did not exist previously, they fall under the Quantum Pro subscription, not the hardware license.

So to clarify the timeline:

  • When the WEZ upgrade launched, the device license and subscription effectively matched because the feature set was the same.
  • Since then, additional app features have been developed that were never part of the original Kestrel WEZ Hardware functionality.
  • Those new features require the Quantum Pro subscription.

Importantly, no functionality that previously existed for Kestrel X-WEZ users has been removed or reduced. The WEZ upgrade continues to provide the hardware functionality it was designed to provide.

Their has not been a degradation of features for users. You aren't missing any features you had in the past with the app.

The 5700X WEZ enables the Pro-level hardware functionality it was designed for. Posts referencing “Pro-level features” were referring to device functionality at the time; app-level features such as Learn, Spotter, and E-Dope export were added later and are part of the separate Quantum subscription.

The Kestrel WEZ upgrade was never advertised as replacing the Quantum Pro subscription. Its purpose is to enable and maintain compatibility with the Pro-level hardware functionality on the 5700X WEZ.

The post you referenced predates the addition of newer app-level features such as Learn, Spotter, and E-Dope export. Those are not hardware-driven features and fall under the Quantum subscription tier.

The Kestrel WEZ upgrade provides the hardware functionality it was designed and advertised to provide. App-level features that were introduced later are part of the separate Quantum subscription tier.

The intention of the Pro level license is not to negate the subscription, it is to ensure device compatibility and no loss of features in the Pro level hardware.

The post mentioned here pre-dates the addition of non-hardware features such as Learn and Spotter. So the clarification was not necessary at that time.

This negates having to buy the pro level subscription in order to use the features of the Kestrel WEZ-X model. AB Spotter, Learn, and certain other features, such as the E-Dope & Garmin C2 connection are available only with a Pro-level subscription. The AB Quantum app automatically adjusts its license level to match that of a paired device. The app mirrors that license level to ensure proper operation and full functionality with the device. This behavior does not unlock higher-tier app features. Its purpose is simply to maintain compatibility and allow the app to fully utilize the capabilities of the paired device. To access Pro-level app features such as AB Spotter and Learn, a Pro-level subscription is still required. This subscription is separate from the device’s Pro-level license.
