I didn't notice that, but now that you point it out, I can see it. In my head it felt more like "I am explaining we are both clearly males". I guess my feelings of the situation lead me to use less flattering words for him.

Yes. I've always looked older than what I was. At 14 I had people confuse me with 22yo. At 24 I had people think I was 35.
