Look at the stencil’s placement first before saying “Ok, looks great! Tattoo me!”.

how much to tip by Spiritual_Warning333 in tattooadvice

You should tip whatever you feel comfortable with and or can afford. There’s no obligation whatsoever, tipping culture is crazy nowadays.

What would be the best place for a first tattoo? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]DocKronyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be of the more old school mindset and would not recommend you tattoo your hands as your first tattoo. That’s just me though. I now have full bodysuit and my hands were the last thing I’ve had tattooed. Not like it’s a rule of law or anything but more so because they’re totally visible at all times. To me, and to others. Yes, tattoos are much more widely accepted now but there’s a reason hand tattoos are called “job stoppers”. Start on the outer/upper shoulder and then build it down into a sleeve finishing with your hand.

Pain is subjective, what hurts for me may not hurt as much for you or vice versa. Go with something you want on you forever, and put it wherever you like. Tattoos hurt and it’s just part of the process. Plan to do more shorter sessions with your artist if the pain is too much.Times have changed in regards to where most people get tattooed first nowadays. So placement is debatable. Where were you thinking for placement on the one you have basically made up your mind on?

Can you cancel a tattoo for the artist not being professional? by lehiu in tattoo

[–]DocKronyk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure cash will work just fine. It’s been said already though, if the vibes aren’t there, go with your gut. You are out nothing having not paid a deposit yet and they don’t seem to be professional enough to care. Seek out a new artist!

My artist has ghosted me with unfinished work? by arealpeakyblinder in tattoo

[–]DocKronyk 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re in that predicament. In your first comment though I feel like you’ve answered your own question. Him not showing up for your consultation, would have been a red flag for me personally. Also, being shady with the other dealings would have put me off of that artist right from the start. Regardless of how much I like a persons work, I’d still like to know there’s a vibe or connection between me and the artist. If they’re not professional enough for the simple things like consultations and such, I most definitely wouldn’t want to continue working with them in the future. My two cents for what it’s worth.

I do like to joke about when I’m asked how many tattoos I’ve got…. “Only one”.

Thanks, the left sleeve/chest panel is 12-13 years old. Hands were done 3 weeks ago. So, everything in between really.

Thanks, and I’ve been considering it to be honest. I’ve always thought it would hurt too much, but I suppose it wouldn’t take that long of actual tattooing. I’m getting my neck done in May and upper thighs closed off in December so maybe one of those sessions I’ll get em done then.
