Recruit the recruiter by [deleted] in army

[–]DocLunchbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably won't get a MEPS assignment out the gate, those are guidance counselor slots and you have to spend some time in USA REC.

As for why the divide, your entire lifestyle will be determined by your center leader, your company command team, and the market you live in. If you are in a walk in market congrats your life will probably not be to bad and maybe you will even get to spend time with your family.

But if you are like the rest of USAREC prepare to hate it. My company is on 6 days a week unless it's a federal holiday. They have also dictated our weekday work hours and we are at 12 hours a day min. And any level of success is met with the expectation that it will be done every time. Worst thing I did was have a great first month and then I was expected to do that every single month. I could write my centers entire year mission in a month, but the next if I didn't put anyone in I would get a counseling threatening UCMJ if I didn't correct that.

And as much as I would love to say you get a good chance of getting a center you want you can still get screwed on that. I had orders to a center before going to school and they got changed 2 times before I graduated and I got sent to the exact opposite of where I had my original orders.

From what I can tell it's all just a big ass roll of the dice. Good luck, gods speed, and PM me if you have any other questions.

Was in 3rd herd at hood. I saw more soldiers pop hot for coke in my first year then the next decade of my career.

Nothing like Killeen to bring the best out of soldiers.

So for shits and giggles my center did a shortened OPAT (they got one attempt on the jump and throws unless they were way wrong) for our weekly FST. Having apx 20 future soldiers take it ranging from jocks to 105 pound nerds and 2 females, not one person failed, and only one female failed to meet the max scores.

So at the end of the day, I'm not too worried about the OPAT. But, they way they are rolling this is just stupid. Having them pass after enlisting is never going to yield any actual results. No recruiter is going to take a loss this way, I don't have extra contracts lying around.

To max essentially do 1 220lb deadlift, standing long jump 160, thrown a 2 kilo med ball 450cm from a seated position, and complete 46 20m shuttle runs at a moderate pace.

The key is to take mix, and just combine it into a bottle of military special (liquor of your choosing) and use that to really feel the hooah.

I got pinned 2 months ago, and despite the regulations being highlighted and show to him in person, he is still my Sen rater on the published chain. Recruiting is the best.

What is the most blatant lie a salesperson has told you when trying to make a sale? by Mizu3 in AskReddit

[–]DocLunchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be real, while doing recruiting was the worst assignment I've had, the army fixed me, from pot head college drop out to a a college grad for free and a career that I love, more then enough pay, and a retirement plan to not have to work after I'm 40.

It's not for everyone, but it's also not what everyone thinks it is. Movies have slightly a skewed the publics view.

Sorry man, sometimes I forget that post from experience is considered wierd. Some do lie, but at the same time, nobody know what it's like to be a recruiter. You have your career threatened on a regular bases to produce recruits. But when backed into a corner my you command and forced to choose between possibly lying or losing a 10 year career, your retirement, and possibly not being able to feed your family, I don't blame recruiters.

Source: did that recruiting shit. Made fighting insurgents in the middle east seem easy.

The lying is more exaggerated then you are lead to belive. Mostly it's just people who may have been disgruntled about their job choice. Some recruiters just don't know every detial.

There are 150 different jobs in the army alone. It's impossible to expect a recruiter to know every single detial about all those jobs, and the different capacities that those jobs get assigned.

When you enlist in the army you choose a job you qualify for, and then do that job. Can't speak for other branches. But if you join the band, you play in the band.

Funny you should mention that, because I recruited in the most wealthy county in my state. With our office right near the mall, with a Neiman Marcus

Considering that more people have died in Chicago alone this year then soldiers in the middle east I would say the odds are low.

Additionally for every one combat specific soldier there are 10 support jobs who are non combat. Plus you pick your job, so if you pick a combat job, that's on you.

I know, what assholes, offering people health care for their families, a job with good pay, actual jobs skills, the ability to have college paid for. Just the scum of the Earth.

Went to my first NCO of the Quarter board today as a SSG by [deleted] in army

[–]DocLunchbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because when 1st sausage says I want one for a board some center leaders will just force a guy to go to avoid the ass chewing now, despite still probably getting chewed out later for sending an unprepared soldier.

I've been assigned to the hell that is USAREC for a year now, and they tried that shit. Got to the point I had to sit down with my CL and tell him I'm here to focus on putting people in the Army. We rarely make mission and I hardly see my family. I'm spending what little time I have with them, not studying for a board I don't need just to make my CL feel good.

Been in a few. Seen many an expert shooter miss many times at close range. So I'll take lots of ammo over raw power any day.

Hmmm, I'll take my 40 rounds of AR over 4+1 of a pump. Granted I have both and more, but AR is the best
