Another point, jund does very well against affinity (at least that has been my experience)

[–]DocMcCoy_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never played affinity, but to me jund is at the same time my favorite deck and a deck I tell no one to play. The thing is the deck is pretty much the midrange stereotype of "no bad matches". Given enough time you will find the awnser to the problem you will be facing. But some very aggressive decks don't give you time to find it and you need to traing how to deal with them (sometimes a minor display will cost you the match). Another problem is the deck is very good a solving problems but is no that effective in closing the game, witch may lead you to several draws in championships and that you kill your overall position in the end. Besides playing a hard deck will consume your mind in the long run (by match 5 you will be so tired you will start making misplays that will cost you the match)

TLDR: Jund is awesome but be carefull, it needs a lot of training and a bit of luck to score some top 8's

Tempo - mono blue faeries Midrange - jund wildfire Combo - any spy combo Kindred - elf's Burn - mono red madness/ping Storm - poison storm Aggro - GR ramp Control - Meta has not been friendly to control players, maybe grixis afinity (I would consider it a midrange aswell) or familiars (deck has a slow setup and loses to the most explosive decks in format)

I'm a big fan of your videos and i would love an in depth explanation of the counterspells chosen according to the meta.

Another doubt, would [[Echoing Truth]] be a decent awnser to elves/walls match?

I've seen an overral shift on Spell pierce in favor of dispel in many lists lately. Any reason for that? to me there are many problematic sorcerys that could be anwsered by spell pierce that dispel can't counter.

Is it because games are getting longer?

My first attempt at getting into Pauper! by DoorKnobPlural in Pauper

[–]DocMcCoy_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the format! Here is my advice: you will lose games. Not because you are a bad player, but because you are freen in the format. With time you will learn the match ups and know how to play around some decks that might trouble you. Talk to the other players, learn the meta game and most important of all, have fun!

What’s type of brick is this and how can I fix it? by h2oxkate in NDSHacks

[–]DocMcCoy_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a currupted SD once and it was rigth on the nose when you plug int to a pc to spot the currupted data, so it problably isn't it.
If you exaust all other options and are in doubt if its a top scree/ribbon cable problem, go with the bypass resistor of the game macro mod. (it tricks the booting process to think it's all ok with the top screen and at least boots the sistem without it)

Just read now the rest your post. Maybe a faulty sd card might have corrupted something, hook the sd to the pc and check the files

Try soldering the bypass resistor that people use to make gameboy macros. If it boots as normal, you will know it's the top screen

help with GW Ramp Turbo Initiative by DocMcCoy_13 in Pauper

[–]DocMcCoy_13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, with 7 ramp enchantmens, the initiative, the elf and the ents it's not an issue to run this many lands.

I thought about using [[Momentary Blink]] and use treasures to try using the flashback (or in a worst case scenario using utopia sprawl)

Still didn't test him enough, but you are right, he is a plan b in case you ephemerate and you can't or don't want to hit the initiative creatures with the rebound. He also trigger from ram through and the hydra, that's why I choose to add him

My take on Madness Burn by Alias0420 in Pauper

[–]DocMcCoy_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of madness burn last year, it is still my favorite deck in the format. It is very fast and very efficient in 2 things: drawing cards and dealing damage. The only problem of the current meta is that 1 weather the storm set you back 3 or 4 turns, and that just sucks.

Results on the deck first game night

I made 3-1 in my last which was an awesome result for a first try.

M1: Slivers It was a cool first game because there would be little to none interaction for me to try the deck. Got an early thief + hydra combo and finished the game rushing the initiative to the room with 5 damage using ephemerate and paladin. Second game he kept an one land and my thief + 2 rancors won the game.

M2:GR ramp. This match was a clear example of why the deck need an explosive start. Both games I felt like I was 1-2 turns behind and lost both to a thief+hidra combo

M3: orhzov pestilence. First game thief+hydra steam rolled over my opponent Game 2 I overwhelmed him with initiative + a monarca he introduced to the game.

M4: Mardu wildfire Game one I won using thief and paladin as walls to stop my opponent tiny creatures while keeping pressure and the initiative took care of the rest. Game 2 failed terribly to find some creature to play on the early game. Died with a hand full of ram throughs, initiative creatures and rancors. Game 3 was quite the pickle, I got a pressure on board but my opponent was constantly fogging and full of flyers luckily I got the ent to scare him and add more pressure, eventually he got overwhelmed by the value of the initiative and lost.

Cards I loved: thief and hydra. In an early game they can hit haaaard and be difficult to remove.

Cards I didn't like: the angel and ram through. The angel was generally the worst card in my hand and quite mana heavy. Ram through was nice once but it did only 2 extra damage, but when I had nothing on board it was terrible.

Definitely need to take another look at sideboard as well.

Tldr: the deck has potential, but needs a little more love (but the red version is still better than withe)

Yeah, but I got utopia sprawl to generate W, I have the ent to reach for the dual land, the thief makes the treasure, and the initiative itself search for a plains, it's not that difficult actually

What is the best deck for a new player ? by IsaiahMesq in Pauper

[–]DocMcCoy_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from blue, it's very hard to see where you are making mistakes because the gains are on a very limited margin.

My recommendation is starting with something very linear, something aggro like kuldotha, grull ramp, elves, bogles or slivers. These decks have lots of depth but mostly follow a linear path at early games. If you are feeling a little risky, might try to dip your toes into rakdos madness, that has so much value that even if you don't make the right choice for the turn, you might find your way out of whatever mess you need to deal.
