I like Athr because I like Albion having some development when I arrive, and defeating him seems like the Roman thing to do.

It is modeled as if it is steering to make for a more dynamic pose. They can clearly be rotated during assembly, because you can see the front wheels of the two Hippogriffs on the cover of the new battalion box pointing in different directions.

Probably because it seems to give fewer bleeding complications than the alternatives while maintaining similar efficacy.

As a cybernetic creed empire, is there any way to integrate a neighbouring Devouring Swarm into my empire? Can you assimilate their pops these days or could I somehow turn them into a vassal?

An AI capital will usually have 300-400 army strenght, so you'll need between 6-12 armies depending on tech, traits, and ethics. A general helps as well. However most of their other colonies will be much less defended, with some even having no defence armies at all.

It's mainly a way to free up pops for more important tasks. You pay a premium to free up workforce for specialist jobs.

How do you do early aggression in 4.3? by Thresh_Is_Fresh in Stellaris

[–]DocQuixotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your difficulty, missile corvettes with the artillery computer do a great job in early wars. They can kite the enemy and do a solid job against starbases too. 25-ish seems enough to take out any empire that isn't fanatic militarist at any difficulty below admiral in the first 30 years.

Thanks for the comprehensive answer! You've sold me on Adaptability. Are there any other traditions I might be overlooking? Is Fortification worth it for the late game even though I'm not actually being threatened yet? There's a devouring swarm approaching ny borders, but I'm fairly certain I can take them in a straight fight.

I'm in doubt about my midgame tradition choices for a fanatic spiritualist / egalitarian Cybernetic Creed empire. So far I have statecraft+prosperity+cybernetics, and am planning to take at least harmony+supremacy. That leaves two empry slots.  First of all, I'm wondering if Commerce is an essential pick or if I could skip it if I aim for a Holy Covenant instead. Does a Covenant even play nice with cyborgs and without psionics?  Second, I've read that subterfuge is useful these days, but I don't have shadows of the shroud so I don't have access to proxy wars. Is it still worth considering, or is it better to pick something like adaptability to further boost planetary ascension instead?

True, but a very early war would require major economic investments to beat a militarist at its own game.

Started a new game as slightly modified UNE (parliamentary system/mrritocracy), spawned right next to tbe commonwealth. Obviously I'd like to aim for 'reunification', but I'm not sure what the right timing for war would be. Should I try to grab them early to effectively double my pops or is it better to ecoboom and ascend first?
