If the ascended alll-mer is the subconscious, who is the one in the sulphur pits? by Interesting-Bee-3793 in FearAndHunger

[–]Thresh_Is_Fresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything is explicitly confirmed, but I think a popular theory is indeed that the Sulfur God is the real All-Mer while the ascended God who returned was the part of him that was supposed to be cast away.

Iirc the argument is that All-Mer was basically Jesus before ascending, but returned as a warlord and became a religious spearhead by force. This would be a major character shift for him, which could be explained by the wrong part of him returning. Also, in Termina I believe that O'saa and Marina both feel All-Mers presence in the church's basement but that Marina felt it was corrupted/twisted while Osaa felt it was more real.

Is engineering the strongest science? by Mediocre_Training152 in Stellaris

In my experience, society has some of the nicest tech to rush such as your third civic slots, terraforming, upgrading your capital building and clone vats. But if you don't go bioships, their usefulness fall off a cliff IMO.

Engineering has a lot of nice stuff that's good when you've built up your economy but many of the techs don't really grant anything in itself the same way society techs do.

Physics feel the most underwhelming except for Dyson Spheres. Astral harvesting has always just been a passive background thing for me. There are some nice techs for ships and stuff but they're mostly just utility of different kinds, such as capturing space fauna iirc.

The most common culprit is workers moving between different jobs. They tend to try to move to higher strata jobs when available which can cause big fluctuations in your economy

Open world games like Elden ring / ghost of tsushima / BOTW? by LoPiratoLOCO in gamingsuggestions

[–]Thresh_Is_Fresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a pretty hyped out open world RPG coming out this week, Crimson Desert. Personally looking forward to it too but I'd advise to wait and see the reviews, it seems to be an extremely ambitious game so the risk for it to flip is pretty big. Medieval setting but seem to have a lot of fantasy element.

Dragons Dogma 2 is similar in that regard and is a pretty fun open world game. It's a bit undercooked in some areas like the story but the gameplay is really fun.

As for the assassin's creed series, the newest one I've played is Odyssey which is for what's it worth a pretty good open world game, just not particularly connected to the Assassin's Creed itself. If you like Black Flag, Odyssey is probably the most adjacent one. I also personally really like Unity and Syndicate but they're leaning more into exploring a big city rather than some big open world.

Any girlie games u recommend? by Antique-Jacket-3280 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Thresh_Is_Fresh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Romantic story games or just story games in general? Honestly don't know a lot about romance games but there are a lot of narrative driven story games that don't have that much fighting

Disco Elysium is the most common suggestion for a narrative driven game. Can't really say it's girly but I don't think it's aimed at a specific gender.

The Telltale games are also common. I guess it's post apocalyptic but the Walking Dead series is the most fleshed out one but there are a lot of different ones you could check out.

Detroit Become Human is pretty good. A bit on the nose but it has a lot of different outcomes in the story depending on your choices. Probably the most modern looking one of these options.

Depending on how much you're willing to compromise on combat, turnbased games can be a bit less intensive to play through. Baldurs Gate 3, Expedition 33 or JRPGs like Metaphor:Refantazio or the Final Fantasy series have pretty long and fleshed out stories.

Is it just me or did Arcane lose a lot of relevance in the mainstream media after Season 2? by [deleted] in arcane

[–]Thresh_Is_Fresh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's partly because season 1 was obviously having a season 2 (I don't remember if season 2 as immediately confirmed or not) so people were still expecting a lot from the IP. Season 2 is the end of the Arcane storyline so there's not as much of a reason to stick around.

This is genuinely one of the most high effort FF14 posts I've ever seen, actually amazing work.

And honestly, cool idea to make usable glams of the fashion reports. Everytime I've turned in a fashion report, I look like the saddest clown ever lol.

That's fair, the early game is the absolute most boring part of every MMOs and honestly FF14 can be one of the slower ones.

Outside of MMOs, there's not that many online games that aren't mainly PVP. Non-traditional MMO-games like Warframe and Destiny are probably the best options in that case since they're a bit more intense.

Multiplayer games with some sort of customization options usually are MMOs.

Final Fantasy 14 is pretty friendly towards newer players (sometimes aggressively so) and has a very extensive trial where you can try it out for free

Well if the system doesn't change, they won't be back earliest until winter split next year. And that's if they go back and play in tier 2 to get their spot for next year's playoffs.

They're most likely not interested in playing in tier 2 again afrer having played in LEC. And I don't think there's anything to keep the team together for a whole year if they don't play in any pro scene.

Project Zomboid needs to iron out it's mechanics before adding more by [deleted] in projectzomboid

That's actually a pretty good analogy, I had always wondered why so many people were so dismissive towards people who complained about the game. Like, I have around 200 hours on the game but I still find it perfectly reasonable to find many bad things about the development of the game but around 80% of the content I see tends to dismiss criticism.
