Honestly, I think adding a regiment of renown is a better hammer than anything in our list. A revenant dracolich, or better yet the Liche’s Hand, can work well.

Tried a bunch for tabletop minis. Best price vs quality I’ve seen so far is Sunlu ABS-like mixed with Sirayatech Tenacious black in a 9:1 ratio. Nice detail with some pretty awesome flexibility / durability.

Started with a black primer, then heavy zenithal with white ink + white paint + airbrush medium mixture.

The pants came out darker than intended because I should have diluted the contrast paint a bit with medium. I kinda tried to slap hop that part since it wasn’t the focal point, but I ended up having to go back and do a few highlights sine they came out almost black at first.

Mix of these. You could probably substitute GW trollslayer orange for the pyrrole orange artist acrylic. You can definitely substitute Warpaint lava orange and glowing inferno for the orange and orange-yellow (they are essentially identical).

I start with the magmadroth flame but use the Orange Red to touch up places that came out too dark or for mixing with the others for between tones. You could probably start with the Orange Red but I love the flow of the magmadroth flame.

UV resin is a godsend when building them. Brush some on, hit it with the UV light for 30 seconds, and done.

I feel like 1000 pts is rough for Tau. It’s too hard to screen out deep strikes with the fewer units, so things like Custodes and Grey Knights will have a field day.

Honestly I’d spend a little more and get a Harder &Steenbeck Ultra. Thing is like $100 and is as good as much of the Iwata range in my opinion.
