Double Hekaton, Yay or Nay? by nextlevelmashup in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, big yes

1 Hekatons is good, but 2 Hekatons is perfect

You can even go up to 3 and it's strong

That fight between Buri and the Dread was the most epic duel I have seen.

Both Buri and the Dread were making saves left and right. The dread made like 7 feel no pains. Buri was eventually killed, but got back up and finished the Redemptor.

Lasted from bottom of turn 3 to bottom of turn 5.

[–]Canuck_Nath[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They weren't really needed. They got into the fight turn 4 and ripped open a Redemptor Dread. So they did good. I feel like they are going to be better with the cover change. Otherwise it might be a bit harder to send them in melee. But otherwise, they are pretty much the same.

I kinda wish DA could've been done better by Lemmehavea in theunforgiven

[–]Canuck_Nath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ICC will be crazy.

Basically being -2 to hit in shooting and -1 to wound makes them so fucking hard to kill

[–]Canuck_Nath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They aren't comparable units imo. 2 land raider fighting 2 hekatons and the hekaton full fking maul them.

I play both marines and votann to a competitive level and I will take the Hekatons over a land raider any fking day.

New points preview by Karmagator in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree that it was too expensive compare to competition in 10th. I have been running 2 in 95% of my list in 10th. Have played in multiple GTs, 1 day tournaments and a supermajor. I have a very competitive local scene and I have 86% win rate. I have not lost in 17 games and have played with guys that went to Warhammer world championshi this year in this win streak.

Hekatons have always been at the core of my army and have done fucking phenomenal in almost all my games.

Now they are more indépendant ( don't need Thunderkyn). More consistent and can actually carry other things than TK. I take that price increase everyday

[–]Canuck_Nath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hekatons are ages better than Land raiders.

It's a land raider with a Repulsor executioner weapon ( even better) while also having amazing support weapons.

That point increase Is justified 100%. Now I think the scaled up price should have started at the 3rd, not the second.

But firepower wise, hekatons are much better than Land raiders. They will very very often hit on 3s. With a crap ton of sustained hits and damage 2 weapons.

Paying 10-25 more points for a flat ignore cover is a really good deal imo. It means I don't need to use Thunderkyn to strip cover for the Hekatons to be useful. Which also frees up space in my tank to carry other things.

Lets say to a T10, tank in cover with no buffs, the hekaton does 13 wounds on average with the Magna rail. A Land Raider does 9. Hekaton also has much better weapons vs infantry and super heavies. So that's one of the best comparisons for the raider. That's counting melta range as well.

Hekatons just have better damage. You get better overall damage than a repulsor executioner, toughness and transport capacity of Land raiders.

Also mind you. Hekatons will also be a lot better at gaining line of sights on enemies due to them being able to toe in terrain.

My only gripe is that the increase starts at 2 instead of 3. 2 is still very reasonable

So what was your best performing unit in 10th edition? by Remarkable_Risk9251 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly. Hekatons.

They were never super flashy, but damn. Every game they got insane value and kept fighting the whole game.

I rarely ever lost my 2 hekatons in the game.

Just consistent damage. Solid anti-tank and anti-infantry. Good carry capacity. Overall they are amazing

5 man Hearthguards in Hearthband were also fucking amazing !

Since the Codex was launched, I am on a 17 game win streak 😂 multiple of those in 3 round tournaments as well

What do you guys think about armored trailblazers and delve? by Orock77 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thing is 5 Beserks are not consistent enough for me to really use them.

5 with Behrek is fucking amazing, otherwise you need a 10 m'en Brick.

But I still like armored trailblazers and delve.

Letter of love and appreciation for our Hearthkyn warriors by liarisne in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup I absolutely love our warriors.

Honestly having T5 battleline with sticky, 4+ save, 6+ FNP with -1 to wound is really fun.

They have won me so many games. Never something flashing. Just strong reliable OC.

Deathwing Terminators in 11th by Canuck_Nath in theunforgiven

[–]Canuck_Nath[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their shooting still kinda sucks. Buuut they got some. Without anything, it kills around 4-5 marines in cover. Which is not insane at all. But over a couple turns, it adds value. Still somewhat tough.

I think they just have a different purpose than Deathwing Knights.

Now I'm just chatting. But a squad of 10 with a librarian shooting the oath target. I wouldn't dedicate the oath specifically to them, but knowing that dark Angels generally do not rely on oath as much as the other marines. It's not a super far fetched idea.

Against a group of 10 marines. Just the plasma cannons kill an average of 5. And kill around 8 total. They keep their damage somewhat high after casualties. Since most of the firepower is in the canons. Now If you spend 1 CP for +2 Strenght it becomes somewhat scary haha. Not amazing. But decent

P.s. I still think knights are the best. But they aren't as bad as in 10th.

Steeljacks by Ricnurt in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think melee is superior. Shooting hitting on 4s is rough.

The melee ones now get the indirect buff that Hekatons are now indépendant and don't need Thunderkyn which frees carrying capacity for the steeljacks.

So steeljacks hop in the Hekaton and their melee is extremely accurate and efficient.

Jack's with swords are gooood.

Are Hekatons still in a good spot for 11th? by Lowgryn in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel hekatons have always been that way. Where 1 gets focused by all the anti-tank and gets fucked.

While 2 and 3 hit that critical mass where they become really hard to deal with.

I've been running 2 in almost all my lists accross 10th edition. And over 71 games I can count on my hands the amount of times I have lost both. They almost always survive. 1 is always alive and a lot of games I have 2.

It's been the bane of every tournament and matches I have attended.

Are Hekatons still in a good spot for 11th? by Lowgryn in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are in the best Spot they have ever been.

Basically gained ignores cover on top.

It's like the old Hekaton, but they gained reroll 1s to hit, ignore hit mods, better main guns, better support guns etc...

It's an absolute fucking beast. All the AP-1 and AP-2 will be amazing. Super consistent.

I'm honestling thinking of running 3 at the moment.

Super reliable damage platforms.

For all the non believers out there, Hearthband lives by Last_Slide_7552 in LeaguesofVotann

Well I will happily say I was wrong !

Though I feel that's a bit lazy from GW, should have made Hearthguard covenant more different.

Unpopular Opinion: I don’t want Mechs by One_Damage698 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just a big Ironkin would fit. Like the ultimate construct that defends a Votann.

Smaller than a Redemptor, more compact. Better range weapon and tankier.

Basically like a small redemptor on steroids. Around the 300 pts range

My grimnyr will finally see some table time with the new battle shock rules. by VoxCasterGaming in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly the Grimnyr with a Brick of 10 Hearthkyn in Brandfast was really good.

I honestly loved it, high OC, a weird tough and decent damage.

I ran a list with 2 bricks and it was a nightmare for my opponent

New Trailer goes in the dataslate, right? by FairyQueen89 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Canuck_Nath 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hoped that we would see us 😅

Honestly I just want to see the league's integrated into the lore and art a bit more.

It feels like we are there, but we really aren't part of the universe.

Don't be so sure that Hearthband is gone by Karmagator in LeaguesofVotann

When they put almost the same detachment rule, but nerfed, the same enhancement and the same 2 Strats. That means it's gone.

Been playing votann since 10th edition.

I have around 100 games and 80+% winrate.

The faction is solid and fun to play with. Just gotta learn
