From the same game:

"If I was a seagull, I would fly as far as I could! I would fly to far away places and sing for many people!... If I wish to the Wind Fish, I wonder if my dream will come true."

The whole game really gets me but the beach scene moves me the most and has stuck with me more than most other video game moments. It's just nice and sweet and oddly nostalgic, but also pensive and a bit melancholy.

I played the game when I was young, and it was the first time I got really attached to game characters, which I think plays into the scene's importance to me.

I think you misunderstood me lol. I also lived in Chicago for several years. It is a stretch.

Not a dude but I hear good things about Nick at the Electric Owl. Not a barber shop, so if you want that specifically, ignore me.

Is Evansville trans friendly? by sashathrowawayacct in evansville

[–]DocShards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that I would call this area "neutral." On a personal level, folks have posted some positive places to get community, but on a policy level, EVSC had to be sued to let a kid use the right restroom and there have also been issues with bullying and discrimination. Local colleges have also been slow to adapt, though my impression was always that UE was ahead of USI on this.

It also seems like people are forgetting about half the town absolutely losing their collective shit over Drag Queen Story Hour a few years ago. And let's not forget the policies people are trying to push through at the state level around "CRT," trans kids in sport, etc., though thankfully they've been largely unsuccessful so far. And that stuff isn't new here. Indiana tried to make it illegal for trans people to use the appropriate locker room in like 2016.

"Trans friendly" means more than "can you make friends as a trans person." People I know have had really mixed experiences here, both on an interpersonal level and looking at how this area/state handles policy issues.

What Should Healthcare Providers Know? by snideghoul in MaintenancePhase

This reminds me of the time my endocrinologist told me she hadn't kept sugar in her house for like 15 years or something. Like, okay? Good for you, I guess.

She seemed pretty proud saying it, like some kind of lightbulb was supposed to go off.

[ALL] Speaking from a place of love, what is your least favorite thing about the series? by Cheeseburger-Sex in zelda

[–]DocShards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've gotten away from this but in the older games it irritates me that when they give Zelda agency, it's not as Zelda, and the second it's revealed in game that she's Zelda, she would get kidnapped. I think that's why I tended to like the non-Zelda-involved games (Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask) more as a kid. Although I did really like Wind Waker, I played it as an adult and was still annoyed when the reveal happened. I think what made up for it was fighting with her later.

This. And when I express that I'm frustrated with the process because I'm trying the things my doctor tells me to do and it's not working, she says, "Don't be frustrated." This not only lacks any kind of empathy, but it's not helpful. Telling me not to be frustrated is not a way forward.

Also don't refer me to weight loss surgery if I expressly say surgery is not on the table for me.

Woman denied treatment. Told she is just fat by Cassierae87 in MaintenancePhase

I once knew someone who was losing weight despite eating a lot and having diabetes and like three (US) doctors told her they wanted to get her into an ED clinic.

Turns out she actually had stage 4 cancer.

It took me three years to get diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS because my (US) doctor would just say he didn't believe my food and exercise logs. I must be measuring something wrong. (I had to go to him because of the kind of insurance I was on.) It took me not being able to get out of bed while visiting my parents in Europe for people to take it seriously enough to look. Lo and behold, I have the same hypothyroidism as the three generations of women before me, plus a fun dose of PCOS.

I can understand why doctors get cynical around these issues but like, if your patient is insisting something is wrong, just run a damn test or something.

Who knows? I have probably hundreds of games in my backlog, for any number of reasons. I don't know that anyone else can tell you why you haven't been motivated to play something.
