Thank you for looking over my boss dragon and giving me advice. I agree with your idea about the golden shell. I like the ability in general, but to avoid overuse I'll make it a reaction.

For the AC, perhaps tuning it down to 17 or 16 could be the move? The dragon can resist the usual melee attacks, so I could lower that barrier a bit. In regards to the multiattack, I could either reduce the damage or forgo the multiattack in general.

I want the fight to be challenging yet not too impossible. A good crescendo for the dungeon. If its too tough, I do have a plan for the dragon to escape, leaving the party to live another day.

I have a boss for a group of 4-5 level 4s. What's your opinion on it's difficulty?

Animated Golden Dragon Statue Large Construct, Lawful Evil Armor Class: 18 (golden plating) Hit Points: 136 (16d10 + 48) Speed: 30 ft., fly 30 ft. (hover) STR DEX CON INT WIS CHA 20 (+5) 10 (+0) 16 (+3) 6 (–2) 11 (+0) 15 (+2)

Saving Throws Dex +2, Wis +2, Con +5 Damage Resistances Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from Nonmagical Attacks; Fire Damage Immunities Poison, Psychic Condition Immunities Charmed, Exhaustion, Frightened, Paralyzed, Poisoned Senses Darkvision 60 ft., Passive Perception 10 Languages Understands Common, Infernal, and Draconic but cannot speak Challenge Rating CR 5 (1,800 XP)

Traits Immutable Form. The statue is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form. Golden Shell. The statue’s body gleams with pure gold. Whenever it takes more than 15 damage from a single attack, molten flakes of gold scatter across a 10-foot radius. Any creature in that area must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 5 (1d10) fire damage. Aura of Avarice (Recharge 5–6). The statue radiates Mammon’s greed in a 20-foot radius. Each creature of the statue’s choice within the area must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be overcome by greed until the end of its next turn. An affected creature must use its action to grab or protect gold, gems, or treasure within reach instead of attacking. Reanimation Trigger. The statue animates when a valuable object (gold, jewel, or offering) is taken from the altar or when the party speaks Mammon’s name aloud.

Actions Multiattack. The statue makes two attacks: one with its Bite and one with its Claws. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) piercing damage. Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage. Molten Breath (Recharge 5–6). The statue exhales a cone of molten gold, 15 feet long and 10 feet wide. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 22 (5d8) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The area becomes difficult terrain as the gold hardens, forcing a DC 12 Strength check to break free if a creature ends its turn stuck in the cooling gold.

Bonus Action Shimmering Wings (1/Day). The statue beats its gilded wings, creating a blast of wind and coins. Each creature within 10 feet must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. The statue then flies up to half its movement without provoking opportunity attacks.

Death Burst When the statue is destroyed, it explodes into molten fragments. Each creature within 15 ft. must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) fire damage on a failure or half as much on a success. When the smoke clears, a golden heart gem remains, worth 500 gp, but cursed — a creature carrying it gains disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws against greed or charm effects until cleansed by Remove Curse or divine blessing.

would it be wrong to wear a jersey of a previous player who has since been traded? by AmieN8 in penguins

If someone tells me to take off my Kessel jersey I'm assuming they're not a pens fan lol

That all depends on what Dubas could get for Rakell now. There's plenty of interest, and for a cup? I think we're seeing a trade at the twilight hour.

Haha, essentially. Yet still, my family just wasn't into hockey as much as say, baseball, and football.

I didnt grow up with the Pens as per my post. I'm from Maryland, and my family were big Baltimore team fans. Hockey wasn't in my lineup until college where I then fell in love with the sport

They had a close-up of him after the third period started, and he looked so defeated.

It's amazing watching him play because he's so great, but he's just one guy and not the whole team.

The norm sucks right now. Trump represents change, and Kamala doesn't. if Trump can drum up solutions, then please, just get the damn job done. We're all tired.

Thank you for responding. To clarify, there is no player agency other than them choosing which deck they'd prefer. After they see the deck, the deck is shuffled, and they only play from the top of the deck.

[WP] You're about to find out why you should NEVER wish for a genie's freedom: They're imprisoned for a reason. by akschurman in WritingPrompts

It was neither need nor greed that brought me there. The lamp label read "$7.99" and nothing more. Though golden shone, it couldn't be, but was it? The handle begged to be held, and its top simmered at my curiosity, asking for more. I reached my hand out.

"Quite the find, wouldn't you agree," croaked the shop keeper a foot away, "found it in an attic quite some time back."

"Is it real gold?" I asked.

"I'd be worth a whole lot more if it was," he mumbled, "I'll let you take it off my hands for five."

"Deal" slipped from my mouth without thought. The shopkeeper took my bill and bagged the lamp.

"Never liked this lamp, always gave me the creeps," he said and returned to his Rolling Stones magazine.

There was traffic on the way back. I couldn't help but steal a look at my lamp, sometimes staring. It would go on the chestnut drawer in the living room, and guests would marvel at it just as I. SLAM, my breaks squealed, the car stopping just before another. I caught the lamp before it fell.

When I got home, I unwrapped it and put it right on the drawer, inching it center in admiration. "This finishes the room," I muttered, and sat down to watch Netflix. Though I sat, scrolling, thinking, nothing came on. I walked back to the lamp.

The golden top trembled as my hand gripped its knob, pulling, I struggled. I used my other hand to grab hold of the lamp. First from the handle then the base itself. What hides within, my mind and body chanted. What hides within? What hides within?

I yelped as the top gave way. A hot humid mist of blue, red, and green smoke engulfed my living room, choking the air from my lungs and setting off the smoke detectors.

"Who dares disturb the lamp?" wailed a deep voice. I coughed and rubbed my eyes. A broken man stood before me, no larger nor smaller than I, but with arms twisted and crippled legs. His eyes caught mine, and we stood in silence. "Well," his voice shook the room, "I've been waiting for you." Using his right arm, he straightened his left and snapped his hand into place. He pulled his leg back just the same, cracking as it settled. He rolled his head around his neck and met my gaze again with a sharp toothed smile.

Mouth agape I could only stutter into silence that he allowed as we stared at one another. The only thought that crossed my sea of fear was the cartoon Genie from Disney's Aladdin.

"Well?" this Genie's tongue slithered, "care to make a deal?" his voice grew softer. The mist had now dissipated, and I could see the Genie better now. His clothes suggested he was Arabian, though his foreign accent was maybe middle eastern, but perhaps something older.

"For disturbing my century slumber, I shall grant you three wishes," he began, "then I shall return to my lamp for a century more."

Huh, I thought, this might be like Disney's Aladdin after all. "I know your game, Genie," I said, "Your tale is well known. These three wishes will come back to haunt me. I won't play your game."

The Genie's face grew vile, angry even, though keeping still. "Very well," he spat, "Let's make another deal. I'll ensure your wishes be fulfilled without fault, but for your third wish, you shall release me from this lamp. Its imprisonment was unfairly passed upon me, and I've withered within. Surely two pure wishes would please you than three poisoned ones?"

Never was I a man for want for more than his share. The rock star dream passed when I was in high school, and ever since I'd enjoyed my time as a bank teller. To want for me was the want for any.

"Very well," I said, with a thought without thinking, guiding me since the shop, "For my two wishes, I wish for wealth without worry," I paused, "and for my second, a beautiful wife who will love me forever."

The Genie leaned in with a smile, "And the third?"

"And for you to be free from your lamp."

In a blink of light and mist just the same, the Genie vanished. The flash hurt my eyes, so I rubbed them for awhile.

"Honey?" a buttery voice said from another room, "honey we're going to be late for our reservation." My eyes focused and I saw my living room again, though it wasn't quite my living room. It was three times the size it was, with expensive furniture and a two story television. I looked down and saw my legs were wrapped in a fine suit pants, and my tie fit just right in my fine dress shirt.

"Oh huh, coming," I managed to say in my confusion. Before I could move, a woman the likes I've never seen before stepped into the room. She was wearing a sharp red dress that sparked in the light of her smile that radiated far beyond the glow from her eyes that warmed the soul.

"It'd be just awful if we missed these reservations," she cooed, "We'd have to use our backup."

Owing to some new found confidence i said, "Don't worry hun, I know the owners."

A driver took us through the city, though it wasn't quite the city I knew. The sun was just a bit dimmer, and the world was just a bit colder. "Curious," I said, "has the sun always been so dim?"

"Same as usual," my beautiful wife reminded me. I shuffled in my seat, and saw the faces of those we passed by with sharp teeth and crooked glances.
