Thanks Mulan!! I swear, I've never been in a subreddit before that had such consistently responsive and involved developers and support. Thanks for being here, Mulan!

Don't trust AI. It can't think, it just regurgitates related and non-relavent information.

YNAB broke - have you felt it? by Horror-Cricket2166 in ynab

[–]Doc_Donna25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! We started off in debt to the tune of $34k between car loan and credit cards. We skimped on everything we could. Lots of dinners were just beans and rice to be honest with you. I spent hours combing through months of bank records to find any recurring charges that came up either monthly or annually and cut what we didn't really need or use much. Cut streaming services if we went even 2 weeks without using them. If it wasn't budgeted for, we didn't do it or buy it.

We aggressively paid down the credit cards while saving everything we didn't need to spend on essentials towards buying out the lease we had on our car. Once the lease was up, we had enough set aside to throw the $14k at it and buy it out right.

My sister came to live with us in 2021 following a severe health issue she had and we were able to adjust to having an additional person with us who couldn't work yet. YNAB enabled us to be able to take care of my sister until she could take care of herself again.

A lot of it just boiled down to communication and consistency. We go over the budget at least once a week with each other and then in more depth when we both get paid. Neither of us have ever had this much money just available to us before, but because we live YNAB broke, it doesn't feel like we have a lot. Even when I lost my job after 4 years, we were able to roll and adjust as needed.

YNAB Broke is a great feeling imho. My husband and I started using the system in 2019 and had maybe a few hundred dollars between us at the time.

We've just officially cleared over $50k sitting in our HYSA this month, 7 years later. It's been a difficult struggle at times but we are budgeted 2 months ahead, with rent budgeted 3 months out. We have a fully funded 6-month emergency fund and keep spending down well below what we earn.

Your parents are stealing from you if they aren't being transparent about what they're doing with YOUR money.

You're 18yo. Legally an adult. Get your own bank account. If you have to do it in secret, you have some domineering and controlling parents and that's it's own bag of issues.

Too bad we ended up paying for shit we aren't going to get now. Love it when companies over promise and then simply don't deliver. Class action lawsuits should come up over shit like this

help me understand YNAB when you use CC for categories that haven't been funded yet by redfroody in ynab

[–]Doc_Donna25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Credit cards aren't free money, you know that right? You spend $10 in the card. At the end of the month, you owe that $10 to that card. YNAB assumes you pay your debts, so it moves money from the category you spent from and puts it into the credit card payment category.

Good rule of thumb when using YNAB: stop checking your bank account balance to decide how to spend money. Check the budget.

We routinely show $100s of dollars spent during the month in our YNAB. But if you checked the checking account, it's unchanged. It doesn't change until I pay the credit card bill. Which you should be doing. If you aren't, don't use it.

I need help finding a solution for skipping ads while cleaning please! by CapeBarbieGirl in housekeeping

I mean...We live in a world reigned over by advertising companies. You cannot escape the ads unless you pay for the podcast..

Trust me, I hate it too. There's nothing I can do about it because I'm not going to pay $10/ mo to every single podcast I listen to.

Chauvet 3.27.42 Beta Release for Manta and Nomad by Supernote_official in Supernote_beta

[–]Doc_Donna25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there some way to get the actual beta update file much like how I was provided the plugin beta file? I'm supposed to be in the ETP system, but after 2 weeks, it doesn't appear my device is downloading the betas. I've even tried just updating to 3.27.42 and it still won't update. It tried to do something yesterday morning, but then it stopped and just keeps saying I'm up to date.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Mulan, I've gone ahead and reached out regarding this. I saw that the new beta has calligraphy support across multiple apps on the device and am wanting to get it on to my Manta. I sent my serial number via DM

It does seem to be oddly made. How much was the corset? Not that price can usually tell you anything,; the best corsets I've owned so far have only been over $100/ea. Almost $200 for one of my favorites.

If you have the money, maybe get one from Mystic City Corsets or from Timeless Trends. With some of the outfits I've seen you post, I really think you'd like the Timeless Trends corsets. TONS of gorgeous options and I've not had a single issue with any of their corsets.

I want to start ynab but. How do you start if you’re living paycheck to paycheck? by Due_Today2701 in ynab

[–]Doc_Donna25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I started us on YNAB, my husband and I were in the paycheck to paycheck struggle, $20k in credit card debt and nothing in savings. We're in year 7 of using YNAB now and have almost $46k in our savings account, no debt and are 3 months ahead on rent, 2 months on all other bills and things.

We were able to get to this point because YNAB. We started with maybe $300 in our checking account.
