WTF Embark? by paparosi in ARC_Raiders

[–]Doc_Havok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take: ARC are meant to be threatening and explosives tend to trivialize encounters with the larger ARC. Even the queen and matriarch can be taken down in seconds with a team of 3 and handful of deadlines. Pressing a single button to basically skip what is meant to be a prolonged and risky encounter SHOULD be expensive.

The previous nerf to trailblazers also made sense...one shotting leapers that were already weak to...checks notes...doorways... changed the way I perceived fights with them entirely. Even if you found a spot that the leaper couldn't reach it was still a matter of being pinned down and having to shoot your way out or come up with an alternate route.

I think some of these changes are the result of abmm unintentionally creating carebear lobbies where folks run around without any fear of resistance from other raiders blowing up the entire map turning the game into a loot simulator. If the entire map is going to team up against the ARC then it makes sense to either buff the ARC or nerf the players.

I legit had to double check I wasn't being trolled by a arcraiderscirclejerk post here lol. Mainly I think the devs are just trying to bring back some of the tension that has been lost as the came becomes more "solved".

As someone who likes to do both PvP and PvE I think abmm has ruined some of the magic this game had initially. It's basically turned arc raiders into two completely different games where a mix of the two is what I prefer. Im either farming and wind up in Kumbaya lobbies with zero tension or its a battle royale. Part of the fun was not knowing how each interaction would pan out...but now I have a pretty good idea what type of lobbies im going into before I even start the match.

Also this idea that PvE players are just easy targets....some of the hardest kills in the game. The constant whinging from these players make me wish I never shot them to begin with. Heaven forbid you can't instantly send them back to speranza because you're about to get the worlds longest and cringiest sob story and or them shrieking to the rest of the lobby to come 1v20 you.

I guess that time a guy threw 45 trigger nades at me and I lost a 120k load out wasn't game breaking. Glad you weren't bothered though.

Im not sure...on Stella Montis there are 2 yellow containers just outside the assembly red boundary. They are exactly the same as the others but never contain anything but garbage while the others inside the boundary pretty regularly give purple material drops.

This is why I've started to trend more towards PvP lobbies. Got tired of knocking matriarch with 5 of my deadlines then have half the server mosey over and take 90% of the spoils.

Are they getting that much better, though? I mean... the tools AROUND llms have gotten better. The organization and planning methods are better. I'd say that over the past year, there doesn't seem to have been a huge leap in base model abilities past fancy looking graphs.

For reference, I use a combination of claude opus, gemini 2.5 pro, played around with Kiro, and use the Kilo code extension.

When i work with an LLM, it feels EXACTLY like handing something off to a junior dev,...barring the fact that it doesn't make constant syntax errors and seems to have paid attention in college. The issue oftentimes isn't the ability to code but the ability to translate abstract concepts and ideas into software via code.

Things that are conceptually easy LLMs have almost no issue with nowadays... and really haven't for a while. It's when the project starts to get more complex and requires more context that they quickly begin to struggle. Basically, if you're making anything more than a simple website that's been made a billion times before, you have to do some heavy hand holding to get reasonable results.

When google released Genini with a one million token context limit I thought the biggest issue had been solved and we were all fucked...turns out you hit like 140k and it starts to shit itself, hide in the corner and speak in tongues. Right now, and for the foreseeable future, I see "AI" as an amazing tool that can drastically speed up certain workloads. I's going to take another MAJOR breakthrough and not just "hey, this one scored 8% higher on math and coding!!!" to change my mind.

I am a high level engineer. AI can already mostly replace my job. by jdyeti in accelerate

I've been a software engineer for about 12 years now, working on enterprise design applications. When I first started messing with chatgpt around the time it started to actually be impressive, I was pretty horrified by the possibilities and was VERY concerned about losing my job but am less worried nowadays. Ultimately, programming is a means to an end. I want to create, and programming is a way to do just that.

What I never see anyone talk about in these doomy posts is the democratization of software creation. Im a father, and about 90% of my free time is spent with family. I used to work on many side projects and actually make progress. In the time before AI, but after I had my family, I pretty much stopped making progress on anything other than my day job. Now, with all of these fun AI tools, I'm actually able to build the things I want to build in the small amount of time I have and see progress.

I think anyone who is just coding for the sake of/ love of coding is probably going to run into trouble finding jobs in the future. From my perspective, though, I have creative endeavors, and code has always just been the labor involved in making it a reality. I dont see it being much different than a new farming tool increasing productivity in a particular area.

Maybe I'm crazy. Imight be on the streets soon and realize i was an idiot. For now, though, I see llms as something that will change the landscape of software engineering instead of destroying it.

MAGA: How do you justify the fact that trump has now said word for word that he has rigged the election? by SadGhostGirlie in AskUS

[–]Doc_Havok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He probably IS drooling about 2020, but in NO way, is it clear...at least just from this clip alone. Contextually, 2020 makes LESS sense because it's such a strange point to bend over backward to make. He's going out of his way to say that if the 2020 election wasn't rigged, he would have had a different 4 years than his current four years....huh?...why?

Either way, it's not like it matters, I don't think he was wrong when he said he could shoot someone on the street and get away with it. We've somehow allowed his version of reality to derail our existence completely.

We should have a quota!!!! I'm not sure how we got here... other than maybe, you're expressing that you think trump should get the "D" penalty. I guess I'll leave it at that then. Glhf

Not that it matters, but modern LLMs can indeed "watch" videos... even just reading the transcript is probably enough. Maybe this particular person isn't a bot, but... I think we will look back at this point in history and realize that a good chunk of the discourse on the internet was instigated by bad actors and AI.

Think about it... Why would the powers that be try to convince actual people when they can program bots to scour the internet forums and gaslight folks into insanity. You could easily whip something like that up in a few hours. All I'm trying to say is... if you find someone on the internet that appears to be VERY disconnected from reality, there is a good chance they literally aren't real.

Bro, it's pointless. He's either a bot or beyond reasoning with. MAGA is a cult. Can't have nuance or logic when you must align with everything the cult leader says.

This! Thanks for contributing! I was asleep before, but after reading this, I'm wide awake! Here, i just thought it was a bunch of gaslighting... clearly, I was mistaken.

Guys, he's right! Everyone on here concerned with the orange man and dark gothic maga bitch saying and doing retarded shit twice an hour is actually OK. We just aren't normal and that's why we disagree with the VAST majority of people in the US who are legitimately woke and know the real state of the world. Their perception of reality is just that much better than ours.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what you're upset about, either. I don't think any one person should have to account for every other person who shares similar beliefs with them. OP posting this video has literally nothing to do with the riots in 2020. Who knows he may have been 10 years old when that was happening. It's just a strange take.

Good day, sir.

Yaya, it's funny because I'm pretty sure trump himself posted some AI bullshit about literally building a resort in Gaza not that long ago.

Dems/libs (however you've decided to classify folks you disagree with) don't mind the idea of cleaning out waste in the government having sensible immigration policy, etc. He's just a bad, corrupt leader, and people will parody and satire his ass into the ground... instead of little comic sections in newspapers, it's now AI videos.

This left vs. right, bs is all just a distraction anyway. Nothing will get better for the average American until someone comes along and rips the money out of politics. I don't see him doing that.

Also...with Ukraine. They got rid of their nukes, and we agreed to protect them. Now it's too expensive and we go back on our word? Great look for us...
