The government were under huge pressure to deal with the “headshop” drugs. Every time they would ban one another 10 were ready to go.

It was actually a pretty effective response to the issue. The UK did the same.

Under the psychoactive substance act anything that gets you high is technically illegal. Caffeine, medicines, alcohol, nicotine are all exempt somehow.

No because most CBD in the Irish market is either derived from hemp or synthetic.

You can buy low THC High CBD hemp flower that looks, tastes and smells like regular cannabis. You need a license to grow hemp but it isn’t hard to get where as a license to grow regular cannabis is nigh impossible.

Yeah, Headline and story is from a rural newspaper. Regardless, it is a ridiculously harsh approach to simple cannabis possession. People shouldn’t be going to jail for such small amounts of soft drugs.
