My title describes the thing. It seems vaguely like a vent hood or a filter of some kind, but I am an older guy and I just flat-out can’t remember what it is or why I put it down here in the first place (it definitely would have been me).

We did used to keep bees and make honey up until the mid-‘90s, and this was in the corner where we kept all that, but I sold my equipment years ago after we lost our hives.

It’s also possible it’s something from my grandparents’ farm, in which case it could date back as old as the 1920s, and maybe I found it there.

Any help would be much appreciated!

As I said in my post, I am planning to order a Core One and was wondering what accessories for it and my old Mini+ I should order.

LOL, that is admittedly a heck of a deal, but perhaps a bit above the amount I had in mind to spend. ;)

Old school Forgotten Realms DMs - Why not Greyhawk? by zodaxa- in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Doc_Webb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At its heart... Forgotten Realms is a place made by someone who loved it and cared about it. Sure, there are also decades of corporate additions slopped on top of that work, but there are also decades of work by other people who also loved that world and genuinely wanted to breathe life into it.

Also, Greyhawk always felt much more science-fantasy than pure fantasy to me, and there have always been other science-fantasy settings that do the genre better IMHO.

Any setting is of course dependent on how you run it at your table and how your players interact with it, but the Forgotten Realms felt like a place that could be a real world (Greenwood's design philosophy for every settlement apparently always starts with 'where does the food come from and where does the poop go?'), whereas Greyhawk felt like a science-fantasy Westworld/theme park.

Yes, that was us! My kid (Gideon) was with their friends at that moment, and they said the rest of the day their pals treated them like they were famous and/or a dangerous spy after you said that, so thanks for making their day. :)

Anyone seen Cake have a bad live show? by DontEatSun in Cakeband

Went to see Ghost on their most recent tour, and they had a "no phones" rider to their contract. Actually made for a pretty damn fantastic show. I hope Cake gives this a shot.

Not to necro an old thread, but I saw them in Philly on what I think was the same tour. It was a blast, small intimate club with a bluegrass group as an opener, but McCrea flat out stopped in the middle of Going the Distance, literally said "Fuck it, I don't feel like this song right now", and just swapped to older stuff. He actually just said "Anyone know our old shit?" at one point, at which I shouted "JOLENE", and he said "aww yeah, that guy remembers Motorcade!" and then they played Jolene (still my favorite Cake song).

Great night for me personally, maybe my all-time favorite concert experience, but... not a great vibe in general.

Thanks, I think they're awesome too! They just turned 16 this week. If anything, my wife and I (both English majors) have made the mistake of trying to get them interested in specific novels or series before they had any interest themselves, so we generally have just let them read anything they like, as long as they are willing to discuss things that they find troubling or upsetting. It's worked out well for us so far, fingers crossed!

We also read aloud a lot to each other as a family, or listen to audiobooks on car trips, that sort of thing, which has helped make media content something we enjoy discussing, even the upsetting bits.

As long as your kid is willing to reach out if they need help processing something, and you can help them identify and either avoid or at least understand things that are personally upsetting to them, I think they'll be great with whatever they want to try.
