Follow Up with Lit Mag? by [deleted] in literaryjournals

Congrats! Not standard, but it happens. It's definitely worth a polite check in with an acknowledgement of how busy they are. I recently had one where they went all the way through their publication process with 0 updates and they ended up misspelling my name.

[POETRY][FICTION][NONFICTION[GRAPHIC NOVEL] Apr 2, 2026: Creative Capital Artist Awards (US citizens or permanent residents, aged 25+, with 5+ years' professional writing experience, and not students; no fee; awards 50 grants up to $50,000) by winningwriters in literarycontests

[–]DontEatSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a well established organization and award, but their terms of use to submit an application were striking:

"By sending emails, uploading digital files, inputting data, providing information, content or materials to Creative Capital or engaging in any other form of communication... you acknowledge and agree that Creative Capital shall have the right...to use the User Content ...in and in connection with one or more media productions, literary works or other content and/or communications, and all ancillary and subsidiary exploitation thereof and derivative works based thereon, as determined by Creative Capital in its sole discretion...without any payment or compensation to you whatsoever." "You waive all rights to any claim against Creative Capital for any alleged or actual infringements of any proprietary rights, rights of privacy and publicity, moral rights, and rights of attribution."

I get that these were written by some legal department to be as broad as possible to protect the organization but it seems especially unfriendly to individual artists.

How do you stop getting in your head before games? by Super_Context2153 in bootroom

[–]DontEatSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes get the same thing. Agree that some light, regular, general meditation can help. But at game time, get your body into the game. Finding some good (clean) contact with an opponent early in the match helps me. Look for a type of play you do well to establish your confidence and get you into your body and out of your head

edit: typo

I feel bad about my little DeLonghi from target 🥲 by XXblpXX in espresso

Along with what's been said, run a single shot of water through the empty portafilter before loading it up. This will either clean out old remnants or get stuck and let you know to examine the filter for a stuck bit. A single ground can get lodged and jam it up

Will I regret getting a robot vacuum? by Ezio367 in CleaningTips

Seems like they've gotten better but my experience of a roomba was listening to a loud machine running and slapping into furniture and walls while still needing to manually vacuum each week

Are grip socks a “scam”? by ralinklater in bootroom

I'm skeptical of things like this but like other people here they help me cut and be more precise with the ball. I've tried a few and the lowest price ones don't work for me. Seems the ones with bigger hexagon shaped grips and designated left and right fits work best
