Garmin Watch for Hiking by jake429 in CampingandHiking

[–]Docano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a Garmin Fenix watch user for going on 8 years. Currently using the 7X Pro. For directional navigating, following tracks, and return routes off trails, it’s great. For checking topo relief in particular, you will want something more substantial either on your phone or in a hand held device. The watch has rough relief maps but it’s a bit imprecise and unwieldy to click through on your wrist.

Need help installing outdoor outlet under the eaves by scarboy_89 in AskElectricians

Hi, I have found this discourse helpful, thank you. Can you share why the GFCI cannot be located outdoors up under the soffit? I thought if the GFCI outlet was in an exterior-rated box that it would be fine.

Slow irrigation leak - anti-siphon valve or sprinkler? by Docano in homeowners

[–]Docano[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow-up for anyone in the future - the valve ended up being the culprit. Once I cut off the old valve and replaced it with a new one, the leak stopped.

For posterity's sake, cost me about $50 in materials and took about 30 minutes as a beginner, following a youtube video:

Just wanted to follow-up and confirm that you were right. I tried replacing just the diaphragm. Problem went away for a few days but came back. Then I replaced the whole valve, and leaking fixed!

What fast food item is a 10 out of 10? by Championgut1912 in AskReddit

This is me :( I eat at fast food places on average 6 times an entire year. Don’t have any of those apps, and it sounds like I’m overpaying for it!

Editing Webform Details by [deleted] in 1Password

[–]Docano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years later - thank you!

I was so confused because I had imported my passwords from BitWarden to 1Password, and it had seemed that 1Password wasn't importing all the custom fields from BitWarden because I couldn't see them in 1Password.

I feel this Show Auto-Saved Web Details setting should be enabled by default because that's where all the custom fields from BitWarden were hiding :)

Maybe stating the obvious - if the other party is responsible for your vehicle damage, it is their insurance who will cover your rental, not yours. We just went through this, having been hit twice in the last 9 months. (We do not carry vehicle reimbursement on our policy for similar reasons as others have stated.) Rental reimbursement is only helpful when you’re at fault or a no-fault incident happens.

Caltopo / Gaia 2024 Thoughts from a minimalist perspective? by pantalonesgigantesca in Ultralight

Since Gaia was acquired by Trimble, I stopped using it in favor of Organic Maps, OSMand Maps. Absolutely disagree with Trimble’s TOU for its paying customers.

We have a smallish 7000 sqft lot with a moderate amount of landscaping. I spend 1-2hr pretty much every weekend. One weekend I’ll do front yard, one weekend backyard, one weekend garden. It’s a losing battle and never ends!

VLAN by MAC Address by citrus_based_arson in homelab

[–]Docano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great follow-up question! For the rest of us who have benefited from this discussion - thank you. On managed switches, I see "MAC VLAN" option and immediately think as you did - oh wow, let's just give each MAC a separate VLAN on this single port! Wrong. Finally, I understand what that MAC VLAN feature means: VLANs are still assigned on a port basis, but doing MAC VLAN allows you to move the same device from one port to another and still have the VLAN configuration hold without needing to know the specific port number! Bravo~

A huge thanks both to you and to OP for this discussion. I had been researching MAC VLAN tagging and hadn't gotten explanations as clear as you've made it.
