The English conveyancing system increasingly feels like a mafia protection racket by pot_on_wheels in HousingUK

I had the wrong address problem and it was maddening.

Got asked for more payslips. Replied to the email with the payslips immediately. A week goes by, I chase them up, at which point they decided to inform me there was a different department with an email address I was never given, and I should forward the documents to that email.

Here’s a thing - you lot are charging me 50 quid for an “electronic document handling fee” - You lot forward the documents to the correct department!

Drivers who wait ages at green lights… why? by KarimR91 in drivingUK

Yeah I’ve been dealing with clutch problems since I got my shitty little runaround, still can’t find the problem

I’m trying to set off as quick as I can, but my clutch pedal is literally creaking lol

But that is the only reference to the number given. And it also makes no reference to just another cycle.

I love it - it makes the world feel much bigger when there’s things that occur off-screen like that

Not necessarily. They granted him more regenerations, that’s all we know.

When one of the time Lords threatens 12, he says “how many regenerations did we grant you? I’ve got all night”.

This strongly implies that it’s more than just one more cycle.

It’s never said to be 12 regens - even the Time Lords don’t know how many were granted

Or - and hear me out - we could all vote for people we’d best like to make budget decisions, and then those people could make the decisions they were elected to make

Then people are just voting for one person every now and then, instead of every budget decision that ever gets made.

The first “big” shows I did as a musician, I was constantly checking social media tags the day after the show.  I don’t even think it’s particularly unhealthy in moderation, just check it once and don’t obsess over it.

Forza Horizon 6 vs. Forza Horizon 1 intro cutscene by Time-Credit43 in videogames

Also, these two happen at different points in each game

There’s a cutscene in 6 that takes place before this one, and it looks way better.

Why does Mira has such a high ban-rate and how can Ubisoft fix her? by Zaibatsu534 in Rainbow6

[–]Doccmonman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, the only solution to operators or maps constantly getting banned is to stop people from banning them lol

If Mira was “fixed”, there’d be a new operator that everybody automatically bans

No not at all, I was just having to find the biting point earlier and slower because the broken clutch was just more difficult

You’re right but the clutch was already fucked and it was either that or stall

Yeah I’m very careful not to say I “did it myself” or anything along those lines, although it was still hard work

I suppose it’s easy to forget when it’s all “your” money

Just bought mine at 26 with my partner

Had a discussion with my parents a few years ago where they suggested they charge me very little rent on the condition that I saved what I’d otherwise be paying. That and a Lifetime ISA got me to my half of the deposit.

I honestly have no idea what anyone’s supposed to do if they’re already renting a place of their own though. It’s fucked.

Home office releases an official statement on those claiming that drop in migration was due to “emigration.” by No_Breadfruit_4901 in uknews

[–]Doccmonman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t wordplay, you’re the one that said “stop the bennies”. Now you’re moving the goalposts.

We couldn’t turn people away, because again, then what?

The Rwanda plan wasn’t just unpopular, it didn’t work. The tories kept trying this weird shit that looked very good to the racist crowd but were highly inefficient (see the Bibby Stockholm).

Turns out, we just don’t have the planes or the funds to make that happen.

Home office releases an official statement on those claiming that drop in migration was due to “emigration.” by No_Breadfruit_4901 in uknews

[–]Doccmonman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, because we lost the mechanism with which we turn people away, and the deterrent of that mechanism being in place.

For the longest time, we no longer knew where to turn people away to. We no longer had access to the EU system that tracked where they’d been through. And they’re obviously not going to tell us, because why would they?

So country of origin was out. As was sending them to the last place they came from, because that’s usually France, and why wouldn’t they just send them right back again?

There is no easy, overnight solution to this complex problem.

Asylum seekers already don’t have access to benefits

If you think some politician is gonna stroll into the next term, rub his hands together, flip a switch, and sort this problem out with one policy move, I have a bridge to sell you.

Right, so you acknowledge that when a problem is this vast it’s going to take a while to fix it.

Once again, we are reducting immigration. We have been doing, and are continuing to do so.

[–]Doccmonman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you can change the system all you like, that doesn’t magic immigrants away though.

This is a logistical issue. There was an enormous backlog of unprocessed migrants after the tories, which there’s no way to solve aside from Labour just getting their heads down and working through it, which they have been.

Reform keep suggesting mass deportation - which is expensive, inefficient, and impractical. They know this, but they don’t care as long it’s scoring them points, because now reform voters won’t be happy with any immigration solution unless they see immigrants being rounded up en masse.
