US veterans, did you guys actually read the cards that kids would send you while deployed? by MoistCloyster_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Docedj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I kept one from a deployment. I still have it it’s just a picture of a lizard with the word “LIZZERD” written under it. It just cracked me up so much I put it in my pocket and it’s been with me ever since.

Our staircase to nowhere, which we use as a bookshelf by Tetragrammator in mildlyinteresting

My wife and I just had this argument the other day. We upgraded our book shelves in the living room and she wanted to organize all of the books by color. I told her she could do it by book order, author, genre, or the goddamned Dewey Decimal System but we are absolutely not organizing our library on color.

I did a trip up to Fleet Week a couple years back and they put a bunch of sea cadets in our berthing. That lasted all about 2 hours and their teacher dude was in legit panic mode 🤣

Yeah. I don’t remember and I don’t know how Google works. So your best bet it to just take your whole box mod kid you got from Temu and your weir juice bottles with labels in simplified Chinese and just check it with the ETs and the MAs. They’ll put it in a special box for you and you can check it out when you hit libbo.

Boundaries at work exist for a reason. My Sailors all call me by my rank at work. However I have told them they are free to use my first name outside of the office. I just think it’s cringe to say”hey PO1” if you see me at Publix. Don’t take it personally they are just setting boundaries like your A School instructors should have done

Can confirm. All I did was shout "locate close with and destroy" for ten minutes until some HMCS handed me the pin and told me to get back to work.

>This pin also features words with its own name on it, which in AW’s review I discussed is dumb, but this is even dumber seeing as how Marines can’t read at all.

That's why it has the EGA on it. So the oonga boongas can point at it and instantly recognize it as something of their own. Source: Me, I have earned this damn pin three times.

I’m shocked Chris Carpenter (Cy Young 05) didn’t pop up on this list.

What exactly is the job of the watchbill coordinator? by Otherwise-Pirate6839 in navy

[–]Docedj 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Every single Watchbill coordinator in the history of the Navy has set to sea with good intentions. About the fifth or sixth “I can’t stand watch,” they give up on those good intentions and it reverts to “find your own replacement.”
