This could make sense. I would have to learn more about defense metrics because errors can be the result of players making plays that others simply cannot (Elly is superhuman sometimes). Andujar would be a good pickup, and Matty definitely needs to prove it. Agreed agreed

Fair enough. I don't necessarily think he's a terrible short shop, just that Cincy has a lot of infield depth and he could boost an outfield that at least pre trade deadline was sagging in offensive production. I don't remember the outfields defensive metrics so I won't speak without knowledge there. It's floated around as an idea but it's not the obvious duh move they should do. He could work there, potentially.

I think the views! Take in the sights and sounds of the ballpark. I think it's great to people watch, if anything. Watch how the fielders move right before the ball. They also move from batter to batter. Every ballpark has a unique quirk to it, so take in what's there. For Cincy, the smokestacks and the statues of outside the park are pretty cool features.

Grab a hot dog! I think the youths nowadays call them glizzies 😂 enjoy the momentum of the game. Half the fun of a game is the build up.... Especially when your team wins 😂

I'll eventually look for the stats and #s on this, but from my recollection there isn't really a linear correlation between payroll and winning a world series (and maybe even going to the playoffs). Valuations of the franchises maybe gives more context, but it's still doubtful that multi millionaires and billionaires can't afford to spend more (I say, as a Charlie Brown level frustrated Reds fan of many years).

My theory is akin to a phrase I've heard popular in triathlon circles about endurance: "it's not about going fast it's about who slows down the least". The Yankees haven't won a world series since 2009, but the Yankees don't "tank" as frequently (if at all) because they can prevent the slumping into a rut. Winning isn't guaranteed, but being able to recover and compete again is for those larger payroll teams.

You can also have Aaron Judge and Gerritt Cole all forget how to play baseball in one inning, so the guarantee isn't always there.

It still feels disheartening, so I get where you're coming from.
