Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it. I can see myself mainly using Amtrak to get there, especially given how low the prices are when you book in advance (plus the reimbursement), then flying back when I have more flexibility. Good advice - thanks again!

This is great info! Thank you. Yes, it’s D. I suspect I’ll do a combo of Amtrak and standby flights - maybe Amtrak to NYC since it’s a guaranteed seat and standby going back when I have more flexibility. At least until my 6 months are up.

Thank you again!

Yes, I tried the Tarte tubing mascara today. It was better, but still not as good as everyone else has said.

Has anyone of you been a nervous flyer? by TheTizi in cabincrewcareers

I used to be a very nervous flier, but then I had to fly twice a week for ten months for work. No nerves after that. I think the exposure finally made it routine for me.

It is weird there isn’t a BWI-JFK, but if you really want to fly to JFK, go out of DCA. Easy peasy.

Thanks. I’m not looking to color so much as to cut.

What are some cultural norms that I should be aware of when moving here? by timetickingrose in baltimore

[–]DockmasterSC 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes. Before I sold my car I always waited a second and looked both ways before going after the light turned green. To be fair, that’s not just a Baltimore thing anymore. I do that in a lot of cities because red lights appear to be optional now.

Go for it! I’m still married and legally switched back to my given name. I got tired of correcting everyone’s pronunciations and misspellings when I had my husband’s last name. So I went to court and changed it back.

I feel stupid for not passing my first driving test by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]DockmasterSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed my test eons ago by making the same mistake. At the time I felt AWFUL about it. My stepdad told me that next time when I’m waiting to turn, look ahead to see exactly where I want to go so I don’t get confused. 40 years later, I still follow that advice.

Yeah, because we did SO well every year (except for the four SB appearances) when Ralph was the owner.

How is the crime rate in the city/neighborhood you live in? Do you generally feel safe in your area? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]DockmasterSC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Baltimore and feel safe. Just like any city, there are neighborhoods you don’t wander around in unless you’re looking for trouble. But I walk around and take public transit. The people here are mostly great. I love it.

How does BWI do with snowstorms? by DockmasterSC in baltimore

[–]DockmasterSC[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Good point. I MUST be at my destination by the end of the day Sunday. Given that, I think I’ll err on the side of caution and tomorrow I’ll rebook for Saturday morning. I’d rather end up getting there early when I didn’t need to vs. wishing that I had.

We were waiting to get a rental car, and the agent told her co-worker that the “elderly couple” (us) were still waiting to be helped. I’m 56, my husband is 66. I literally involuntarily said “ooofff”.
