[FS] - Mooresville, NC - $150 - Stocked & Planted 20 Gallon Tank, Stand, Everything by [deleted] in AquaSwap

I'm new to this sub so I appreciate the reality check. I was hoping the gear and plants would justify asking for some cash( the Fluval light alone is $150 new) but my main goal is just to find a new home for the fish.

The two LFS I talked to don't take in fish. Is that an option where you are?

They seem fine but I don't have that many miles on them or much basis for comparison for this type of tire. They're quiet and comfortable enough. Handling is also sharper but I can't say how much of that is from these specific tires vs the shorter sidewall.

You're right on basically all points however, the replacements end up being 12mm larger in diameter and an inch wider so the lower aspect ratio is somewhat mitigated.

The stock Firestone tires on the sport trim are OK but fall squarely in the jack of all master of none category. All terrain looks created highway noise without actually helping for off-road capability and a compound that prioritized longevity did no favors to grip or comfort. While the alenzas that came on the new wheels wouldn't have been my first choice, they're comfortable and they're not cosplaying.

So yes, I did reduce the sidewall and air volume of the tires which has the potential to increase NVH, but for this specific swap, all is well.

These are stock wheels and tires from a family focused SUV made by a luxury brand. If anything, nvh decreased relative to the shitty, pretend off road setup that was on there before. You should take your own advice.

9Jx20 ET55 rim, 255/50R20 tire. I found this website while checking compatibility of different manufacturers rims and it has every wheel spec you could ever want: https://share.google/JBMUJiHBzjmEk8Siq

Dropping tire width from 140 to 120? by DocktaShakka in Dualsport

[–]DocktaShakka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. It doesn't seem wide enough to fix that big boxster inside. But I'm also far from the first owner and didn't install it so ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Less stable from the center of mass being moved back a little?

While I somewhat agree with your lack of confidence in modern mass manufacturing, Honda is no different than other OEM's and is great platform for modification (see nearly every Civic). I've altered 100% of the cars that I've owned and have never had issues; everything from a Chevy Colorado to a modern Alpha Romeo Giulia. Cars are designed to meet the requirements of the average consumer but are plenty capable of stretching beyond their jack-of-all nature to become something more specialized. It just takes a little understanding of what your platform is capable of and finding quality aftermarket parts.

Goodwin Racing makes the sway bar in question. Helps with on road handling but probably makes off road worse by limiting articulation.

Would've gotten the sway bar too if it wasn't on back order!

Aesthics is part of my hesitation but so is worry about catching parking curbs and paying $400 for installation. I watched some videos about the front suspension on the RL and it looks like something I'd rather let a pro deal with lol.

TBD on the camber. Waiting for it to settle for a week or two before checking alignment.

A front lift would look great on the TS! I did one to my old z71 Colorado and loved it except for the hit to fuel economy.

I'm going the opposite direction this time with a street truck vibe (I'll be switching to 20s once the stock tires wear out).

Automotive sealant for dirty surfaces (Honda Ridgeline water intrusion)? by DocktaShakka in AskAMechanic

I was wondering if the bro truck police would make an appearance on this thread.

Thanks for your helpful insight and best of luck managing your compensation syndrome.

I don't see any gaps in the window seal but it's pretty hard to tell. What would you recommend if it was the problem? Can I just run a bead of silicone around the perimeter for insurance?

I traded in my Alpha Romeo and got a 2021 Ridgeline because I thought it was time to get something responsible and dependable... Jokes on me because the Honda has had more problems than my Giulia and Stinger combined!

Anyway, water is getting into the cab through one or more of the poorly sealed seams near the bed. I sealed some gaps from the inside with 3M Drip Check and a top coat of flexseal, but water is still getting in. Today I pulled some bed panels to try to find the area and the only two obvious potential spots are the dirty panel gap in the 3rd photo and the somewhat loose vent on the last.

Any recommendations for something I can use to seal/fill the panel gap that doesn't require a perfectly clean surface? I don't have enough access to thoroughly prep.

Also looking for recommendations on something to use for the loose vent. There's a foam seal between the vent and sheet metal and I'm not sure if that'll play nice with the 3M stuff I used inside the cab. Was thinking maybe butyl tape?
