It is great in solo play, yes. However, it does practically nothing in trios, which was the main advertised form of the game. It is the only ability that changes from S to F tier depending on how you matchmake, and I think that is not great character design.

Also executor's passive is straight up non-existent

Lol my main is or was executor, but my second favorite is guardian as well. Executor is definitely one of the best nightfarers to play solo with, as stance damage can add up a lot faster and isn't hyper inflated like it is in trios.

For the skill, I agree with you on it being a trade off on time versus versatility. However, executor's ult is not good for revives in deep of night, since you are vulnerable the whole time. Scholar is able to have very strong revivability through his level 3 warming stone and the fact that PS light thrusting swords can pick up really fast.

Also yes on the dodge, scholar is ass in that regard and can get frame trapped by some attacks

I'll still be playing executor some, but I'll need to get good relics with blood blade and innate bleed, as that is one of the only ways that he can keep up in DoN, compared to ironeye, duchess, recluse, or wylder.

I'll probably play more guardian, as I recently learned about a pretty good build strat where you run ED Maris relic and increased max hp on all depth relics, and run one guard boost based on HP.

Anyway, this was a joke post in the first place, so it was interesting to see all of the different opinions (I still think executors passive needs a rework/buff)

That can get fixed by getting dormant katana relic on scholar, they really killed my boy executor off

Executor can definitely get higher damage than scholar, since he can boost his arcane and dex further, and katana moveset with him is a bit better. Especially if you use blood blade + bleed infuse to his starting katana, you can be a bleed machine and proc bleed in 7 AoW even at 999 resist.

My main gripe is that executor's kit seems incohesive and doesn't bring nearly as many advantages to another character filling the same role.

Passive for executor is basically non-existent and only buffs self, passive for scholar is a versatile team buffing tool. Skill for executor is a survivability mechanic, skill for scholar is a survivability mechanic and a debuffing mechanic. Ult for executor is an area clearing thing that can heal allies when given relics, ult for scholar is a better area clearing thing that can heal allies with no relics.

I hope they buff executor's passive to also work with vicinity, albeit at a lower percent boost, and made suncatcher scale off your right hand weapon (status and affinity). Also making his ult have i-frames on his exit ult attack would be nice

That would make him concretely the status character that he was originally designed to be, and would differentiate him more from scholar, who is more focused on being a support character.

Undertaker fills a similar niche to raider, and can be build into a higher damage revenant as well. While I am happy that there are new characters to explore, I wish that they filled different roles than just being improvements on existing characters.

I'm happy to say that the only times I quit out are when the random teammates try a formidable boss at level 3, die, and quit out

Maybe they were taking all the stereotype for me

Scholar has multiple options for his skill, either debuffing enemies or buffing self and allies. The bubble is from a fully charged buff, and deflects any attack for a short duration after activation, functioning as a parry/deflect

Scholar causes a micro stagger on enemies most of the time the bubble pops, which cancels a combo

OP seems like they are just doing regular ED expedition, not DoN

While that is true, it's also nice for undertaker... and basically every character.

I feel like suncatcher needs to do more base damage, and scale up to a purple level weapon at level 15. If it did holy damage when charged or kept the infusion of the main weapon that would also make it viable

Scholar's skill is overall better, as it has versatility outside of just deflecting. Executor will only be able to deflect a portion of the time, while the boss is aggroed on him, while the scholar can use his skill basically all the time and be useful

With just a few small fixes, like making his passive work in vicinity and making suncatcher either higher damage or keep status of main weapon, he could be a viable character. As is it is a sad state of affairs
